Jonezy Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Where did you hear this? If thats true then it is a great signing! Not sure, and might be me connecting the wrong dots, but I'm sure I have read suggestions around here, that it was 200k for Brown and 400k for Hobbs. We will never know though, as MM always do them undisclosed fees.

Guest ttfn Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Genuinely think that this is a poor signing. Brown is 31 years old. We already have Hobbs, Tunchev and Morrison, as well as the forgotten man, Kisnorbo, who despite being last year's player of the year, is now seen to be as welcome as a Mexican at a health convention. I just don't think that he is a step forward.
Cobbo Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Well if Bruno/Mattock are struggling with form - Tunch on the left and Brown and Hobbs in the middle. I'm liking a bit of that. Another good signing from pearson - played nearly every game for Hull last season and they got promoted, so that'll do.

You can see the organisational skills in Brown already (that we certainly lacked last season) and this, as we have found out to our cost, is massivley important in the Championship. More so than natual ability, to some extent.
maddog Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 2 year deal very nice. Think everyone was unsure of Brown after his dire performance at Mk Dons, when he was totally at fault for their second goal and looked shaky, but he's completely turned it around since then. Hobbs, Brown, Morrison are all very good and all just as good as eachother. Tunchev though is in a league of his own, in my view he's the only player in our squad who is good enough for the Premier League currently, and not just relegation battlers in the Premier League either.

It's not like they dominated that division. He played once in the prem and Hull lost 5-0! I used the player of the season comment to illustrate a point. Kisnorbo was very good for us for 2 and a half years, and people have just forgotten that. I think it's sad. And as for the organisational thing, I've been saying we need an organiser for ages. Of course, we had one, his name was Paddy McCarthy, and we let him go and now people hate him.

Brown is a good organiser and that's something we need. More so than Kisnorbo's rash decision making and slight bit of pace. No one is saying Brown is a Premier League player...but Championship, yes. Have you ever thought that Kis maybe looked better than he is becuase of the shite that was around him?

And Paddy Mac didn't have to go on loan to a league one club to find first team football

As I said, no one is saying he is good enough for the Prem.

He's been quality in the run in and fully deserved his contract with us.

As I said, no one is saying he is good enough for the Prem. I just don't know what you think is deluded about it? Paddy Mac left us, we went down. He left Charlton, they went down. We conceded the third least goals in the league this season. I'm not denying that Brown's played a part, but with Tunchev to come back, I don't see what his role is. edit: Seen Brown play twice this season, MK away (absolute garbage, worst performance I've seen by a City centre back) and Southend away (pretty decent)

I suggest you check Sheffield Fox's polls after each game and see what people who have seen him play make of his performances!

Cool, I hate that Colin willy puller!

Rocky Dennis Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Could it be that the vultures have been sniffing around the Tunchenheimer???

He was over compensating for a bad ankle/foot and strained his calf, hence his absence for the games after that. When he's been fit he's been a rock at the heart of the defence, great in the air, good organisation skills and rather intimidating to the opposition! Welcome Wayne, great signing
