Guest Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Good save by Cech. God I feel dirty wanting Chelsea to win
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Hleb Go home!! Tie over, Chelsea will beat Barca at the Bridge, I agree. Whilst Barca have been comfortable, they have tried to walk it in. Cech has kept them in the game.
Salieri Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 You've gotta say Hiddinks got his tactics spot on tonight. To stifle a Barcelona front line that has scored so many goals this season takes some doing. No away goal for Chelsea but i'm sure they'll take this result and they've gotta fancy their chances now at the Bridge. From a neutrals point of view, a bit of an anti climax!
General Smuts Posted 28 April 2009 Author Posted 28 April 2009 This game has classic high scoring game written all over it.3-3 methinks. Messi is gonna tear Bosingwa a new hole. I'm worse at predicting than maddog.
Samilktray Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 All I have to say about Barcelona is... Is that it? Talk about an anti climax, they were boring with all there daft play acting.
lildave3 Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Good result for Chelsea, but by no means is that game over.
Guest Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 THE CHAMPIONS...... league (just for those of you who listen to Danny Baker on 606)
dandannieldanok Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 All I have to say about Barcelona is... Is that it?Talk about an anti climax, they were boring with all there daft play acting. Toothless is a good word to use, and as you say the play-acting was terrible.
Sparky Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Quite enjoyed it for a 0-0 Dani Alves and Drogba are a pair of play acting arseholes
Joe. Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Pretty decent game that for a 0-0. Disappointed Barca didn't get the win, and I'm even more disappointed that Bojan didn't bag at the end. That was a horrible miss. Hiddink, although very negative, got it right tonight. He took the gamble by soaking up a lot of Barcelona pressure, but it was effective and it paid off. There was always six or seven Chelsea players back in the box to all but cut off the supply to Eto'o. Decent game, but Barca should have won.
Sparky Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 0-0 is dangerous result for Chelsea still , Barca well capable of nicking an away goal or 2
Joe. Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Alves and Drogba are a disgrace to be honest. Although Alves' two crosses right at the end were sexual.
Darkzzz_ Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Well done to Chelsea. They done what they set out to do. It is a compliment to Barca the way they set their stall out tonight. I think Cech kept them in the game. I also thought Bosingwa played well in the second half. Messi wasn't his usual self, although he didn't play badly at all. Barca try to score the perfect goal and that annoys me a lot. I just can't see Barca winning at the bridge, I love how ITV are bigging this amazing defensive display up and yet when an Italian or Spanish team do it they kick up a stink. Ah well, I enjoyed the game, I thought Barca showed glimpses of why they are so good. But my praise must go to Hiddink, without him, they wouldn't have got this result.
purpleronnie Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Sounded dull, I stayed at work to listen to it, sounded like the barca header was the best chance of the night. Not surprised Chelsea kept a clean sheet ashley cole wasnt playing. I've got a funny feeling it will be 1-1 at the bridge and maybe my early prediction of a Man U V Barca final will come true.
Guest Bilo Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I also have a feeling it's going to be a score draw at the Bridge and Barca will go on to win in Rome. Chelsea will attack more on their own patch, which will suit Barca far better than the defensive display tonight. Not necessarily the most interesting game of football, but those saying it's a good result for Chelsea are only half-right. They may have stopped Barcelona from scoring, but the lack of an away goal could still hurt Hiddink's men.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Wasn't a great game by any means, can't argue with Chelsea's defending, although Barca deserved to win with how they went at it. Ivanovic had an absolutely fantastic game. He's starting to look a very tidy bit of business now he's settled in the team. Terry once again looked suspect without Carvalho, and Alves and Drogba need to be ashamed of themselves. No one particularly stood out for Barca. Suppose that's down to Chelsea stifling any creativity. The next game will be tense.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 I just wish Drogba had taken that chance. Have to admit I raised my voice and went "come on!" when he was through.
Tilley Posted 28 April 2009 Posted 28 April 2009 Next week it is a matter of outscore your opponent, Barca will prevail, just.
lcfc_jme Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Barca should have won/. Chelsea were shit and didn'yt desetve a point. Saying that, I think they';ll snatch a 2-1 win at Stamford Beach amd go on to win the final 2-1 against either Yanited or Arsenal. Not good. Shocking for football.
Darkzzz_ Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 I know where people are coming from and I too hate the way Chelsea are being praised for their 11 men behind the ball job. Had it been the other way round people would be slagging Barca this morning. Saying that, I really admire Hiddink, if I were facing the best footballing side in the world I too would set my stall out like that. The game itself wasn't too great, it was like watching Barcelona train for the first 30 minutes, I thought Toure stood out last night, his positioning and timing were key on the rare occassions Chelsea bothered to play non hoof ball and come out of their half. I think Cech made the most passes for Chelsea in the stats. Considering Barca play the massive Madrid game this weekend they can be very proud that a team from the best league in the world rolled up in their bus and didn't move it all night. The tie is set up nicely, Chelsea have to score, unless they defend for a shootout (which they are poor in) and Barca can hurt them with an away goal, we shall see. I will have to tip Chelsea because I can't see Barca dominating the game like they did last night. I too must say how Alves fooked me off last night, Barca did have their play acting moments, but what team doesn't? That annoys me. Don't let me mention that twat Drogba. So whilst people blast Chelsea and rightly so to a some extent, you also have to understand what they were up against and in the end they got what they went for. They were well organised and that is why Barca and many others have failed against English teams in recent years, there is no doubt that the Premier League is the strongest league and they are certainly well drilled and teams struggle against that. So I have to say Kudos to Chelsea on that. I will let ITV have their day and their praise for the English spirit, but seriously, you couldn't even get a 7-a-side team of English players from the 3 teams left in the competition. It is very laughable, their is being fair and then there is being totally biased. The English media are the latter.
Ultra Posted 29 April 2009 Posted 29 April 2009 Good result for Chelsea, but by no means is that game over. This. Barca had an eye on their trip to Real Madrid on Saturday. I can't see their attack being so lacklustre at Stamford Bridge.
