tartanowl Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 I must say I've been amazed at how well you have done this season. You've walked it and gone up as deserved Champions. Top marks to you and Nigel for turning things around so fast. How do you see yourselves doing next season back in the Championship? What new players do you have to look out for? Has Milan promised you money to spend? It will be good to see you boys and girls back at Hillsborough next season. Hopefully the Leeds Scum don't join you!

Thanks mate, always nice to be congratulated by other fans. In terms of how we're going to do next season, the optimism among City fans is higher than it has been for some years. Pearson and his staff have been brilliant in the transfer market, and you only have to look around the place to realise that the dressing room atmosphere is top-notch, something that has been missing for many a year, perhaps even the O'Neill days. I won't say back-to-back promotions are on the cards (even though that has been talked about both inside and outside the club) as that is clearly a huge ask. I would say that a play-off push could be possible though, even if we fall just short of that target. Swansea and Bristol City have shown us in recent years what can be achieved, and we must be aiming to emulate that. Milan has promised to back Nige up with money to spend, and it's clear that the two have a strong working relationship. Milan will do his job by providing the funds (some £10 million has been mentioned) and Nige will do his bit by bringing in the players we need to get the job done. At last, Milan is allowing the manager to do his job without interfering and it's beginning to bare fruit. Not sure about who we're going to bring in, but on last year's purchases we can honestly say 'In Pearson we Trust.' Also, can't wait to go to Hillsborough next season. One of my favourite grounds in the country, brimming with character and we do tend to do well reasonably well there as well. Would love to see Lids fail again in the play-offs as much as you. Anyway, best of luck in 44 of your 46 games next season.
carterfox90 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 mid table or play offs would be a great achievement lets hope the leeds scum fail yet again but it looks like they have hit top form at the right time shame
Fox92 Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 Cheers mate, it is much appriciated. Nice to come from another fan!

Best of luck to you too except when you play us. mid table or play offs would be a great achievement lets hope the leeds scum fail yet again but it looks like they have hit top form at the right time shame Hopefully they'll lose in the final again. The bounce song is my favourite and yes it was amazing. Was great winding up the mutton molestors when the other teams scored too. What brought you to Hillsborough?

Was great winding up the mutton molestors when the other teams scored too. What brought you to Hillsborough? I was in Gangway F, but I usually sit in the Kop when I go. I've been 5 or 6 times this season, usually when City aren't playing or when were at home. I'm a student so I've been reaping the rewards of student ticket prices and having a best mate who supports Wednesday.
foxoffderby Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 i live in derby for my sins. Apparently burley ex derby manager got off with Tudgays mrs whilst drunk and was sent packing to wednesday. Massive rumor amangst the sheep shaggers at the time. Ask any derby fans they will confirm.
Scow Posted 7 May 2009 Posted 7 May 2009 It seems Wednesday made a bit of progress this year. Just out of interest, Tartanowl, do you believe Laws is the right man for the job? I'm not sure I can see you being any higher than midtable.

Hope you continue to come along to Hillsborough when your boys aren't playing and you continue enjoying yourself. i live in derby for my sins. Haven't heard that. It seems Wednesday made a bit of progress this year. Just out of interest, Tartanowl, do you believe Laws is the right man for the job? I'm not sure I can see you being any higher than midtable. Laws is definitely the man for the job. He's worked miracles under a terrible previous regime and bought well (apart from Jeffers) on a pitifully small budget. Our wage bill is going up £2.5 million next season, we've signed our top young players on long term deals, we should hopefully have additional transfer money to spend, we have a new pro-active chairman improving things massively and very quickly off the pitch, the deadwood and fan suers from the previous board have gone, the fans are all on-side for the first time in years, and there is a genuine feel-good factor at the club for the first time in over a decade. Personally I expect us to finish higher than this season. I'm not expecting miracles but I think if we buy and loan well we can and will be challenging the playoff places. We have the nucleus of a very good side and our young players could be part of a very successful future. It has been years if not decades since I've felt confident about the direction the club has been heading in, but that since Dave Allen has gone and the new boys behind the scenes have come in has changed. Wednesday are back mark my words.
Smudge Posted 8 May 2009 Posted 8 May 2009 I've always had a soft spot for Wednesday; my mother was born in Walkley and Wednesday was her team. Nice to hear fom you!

Also said he's really not liked at all by the sheep lovers (Burley that is). Oh, & welcome back Tartan .
Koke Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Yeah, Wednesday are one of the more likeable clubs around. And Sheffield is always a good away day out.

Nice to have you guys back where you belong. The Championship needs clubs like Leicester. Looking forward to the games next season.
flanimal Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Always liked Wednesday. My cousins are from Sheffield, decent city. Meadowhall is the shiz!
Koke Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Most people like Wednesday because we generally have no time for the Blunts - I can't stand them at all.
leicesterseddon Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Most people like Wednesday because we generally have no time for the Blunts - I can't stand them at all. sheffield united always struck me as the club no one really gives a shit about (apart from wednesday, for obvious reasons).... seeing them not go up through the play-offs again would be so funny
flanimal Posted 10 May 2009 Posted 10 May 2009 Haha. Yeah, scew 'em! For some reason I really like Man City too. Maybe it's because they are like the uglier sister to Man Utd!
