James. Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Went to Fulham vs Villa today and Pantsil was absolutely quality. I love this guy. Great going forward, solid in defence, bit of skill and clearly loves his football. Did a lap of honour on his own at the end of the game and got a standing ovation from the Fulham fans. Brilliant. Was great to see a player loving his football and giving the fans plenty to cheer about. Kept Milner quiet in the first half and did the same to Young in the second. Not really expecting much of a love in for him on here but I wanted to state on the record that I think he's a legend for Fulham in the making and it was a pleasure watching him. In fact Fulham generally were great to watch, Hodgson has done a fantastic job there, 7th in the league after an awful start and with players like Hangeland, Dempsey, Murphy and Etuhu with the latter two dominating the midfield today. Oh and he is exactly 1 year older than me although apparently he doesn't like to be known as John... Pantsil, I salute you.
Finnegan Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Got a lot of love for Fulham, think it was initially the Coleman factor but it's grown and grown. I thought Hodgson was a desperate appointment but he's been brilliant and really has them playing genuinely good football. Have been impressed with Pantsil a few times and will happily join this love-in as long as I get to pay homage to the man, the myth, the legend:
MarkDeVries Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Dempsey is one of the most under-rated players in the premiership imo I hated Fulham 'til Hodgson came in they played boring football. These days they play much better football. Their fan base is still shit but you can't have it all
James. Posted 9 May 2009 Author Posted 9 May 2009 He's no Erik Nevland. Ha. He was totally anonymous today and got subbed late on for Zamora. Shit, if I'D been subbed for Zamora I'd be offended, nevermind Nevland. What made it an even better game was seeing Ivanhoe come on in the second half and also good old MON on the touchline. Villa fans were great in the first half but absolutely dead in the second. Fair enough they were 3-1 down for much of it but still, they didn't sing properly once all half. Fulham on the other hand, as shit as their fanbase is, managed to create something resembling a decent atmosphere. Credit to Roy, he really has sorted that club out.

C-man Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Wasn't it Pantsil who went down like a sack of spuds to get someone sent off for a headbutt earlier in the season? Think he nutted someone then went down if I remember correctly? Also, his name is actually Paintsil isnt it?
James. Posted 9 May 2009 Author Posted 9 May 2009 Also, his name is actually Paintsil isnt it? It's weird. Wikipedia has Paintsil, Fulham site has Pantsil and that's what is on his shirt. Combined with the fact he doesn't like being called John his name is a bit of a mystery. That just adds to the magic for me.
C-man Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Pro Evo has him as Paintsil. But that means nothing to me as a devoted FIFA man.
Koke Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Fulham on the other hand, as shit as their fanbase is, managed to create something resembling a decent atmosphere. I've travelled up & down the country with Fulham on several occasions in the past 18 months or so. Their fan base may be shit but they are a very good well run family club who do a lot for their local community. I like Fulham and I am always baffled when people want to see them relegated. They are a relatively small who are more than holding their own amongst the big boys. And it's quite difficult to recruit new fans when they have the Russian money-bags living right next door to them. The same applies to Wigan as well. I was at Fratton Park last year when Fulham secured their survival on the last day of the season and the atmosphere was the dogs fucking bollocks. I really hope they finish 7th this season.
Finnegan Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 "A player comfortable at the full back or midfield position, Paintsil had stints in his native Ghana with Berekum Arsenal and Liberty Professionals and a brief spell with Polish side Widzew Łódź before moving to Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2002. Paintsil was referred as John Pantsil in his West Ham transfer documents, a name he has repeatedly insisted is incorrect." Thankyou, Wikipedia.

I agree with all that. Was never bothered about them but since going down there a few times a season for the last couple of years or so I've grown quite fond of the club. Few too many tourists and people looking for Premiership football on the cheap (a season ticket is less than £400) in the crowd but overall the Cottage provides a good day all round, on and off the pitch.
Father Ted Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 Absolutely quality. Always regarded him highly aswell as Konchesky. In fact Fulham are just quality. Roy Hodgson is a quality manager!
Cobbo Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 I believe his name is Paintsil, but there was an error with his visa, so he is now to be known as Pantsil. In thi country at least.
Hitesh Posted 9 May 2009 Posted 9 May 2009 I believe his name is Paintsil, but there was an error with his visa, so he is now to be known as Pantsil. In thi country at least. Typical! Talking about Fulham, what a job Hodgson has done there with the limited funds etc! Paintsil/Pantsil has been awesome but for me it has to go down to the defender Haageland and the buy/Free transfer of the season, Mark Schwarzer
Koke Posted 16 May 2009 Posted 16 May 2009 Amongst all the non-stop coverage of Manure winning the title again, and the massive Newcastle possibly going down, Fulham [the smallest club in the league bar maybe Wigan] can secure a European spot if they get a result next week. This surpasses the achievements of Manure, Villa, Stoke etc.
Leicesterboi Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Wasn't Pantsil the player who dived or did something ridiculous trying ot get someone sent off a few weeks back and everybody was slating him? Now he claps the fans after a game and he's a hero?
Head Honcho Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 I believe his name is Paintsil, but there was an error with his visa, so he is now to be known as Pantsil. In thi country at least. Yeh thats right. Premiership rules dictate that he must have his registered name on his shirt hence Pantsil.
