flanimal Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Anyone think he'll be given more of a chance next season? I've watched him in a few reserve games, and looks to have some real quality. I think he's better than Hayles, and offers more threat than Dickov.
Sods Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Reckon he will be shifted out on loan to be honest, Fryatt, Howard, Dickov are all seen above him already, and thats without possibly bringing in one or two more players.
Guest Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Think KIA mentioned that he was going out on loan. If so it's a pity, I really wanted the guy to be given a chance here soon but maybe a loan will do him good
Libertine Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Loan is good. Good loan. Do not sell. Headsets five dollars.

His contract is up next month and he just seems to have disappeared off the scene without a wave. Even Wikipaedia seems to have no information beyond the period when he returned to Leicester after a loan spell at Hinckley United. I seem to remember him being mentioned as playing the odd game for our reserves. Perhaps Knowitall can update us.

lou Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Cant believe he didnt get played this season over Dickov who was predominantly worse than useless. I hope he gets a good loan club but stays with us in the long term

flanimal Posted 12 May 2009 Author Posted 12 May 2009 He has ability though, Chambers is quick, skillful and a good finisher. You can watch some videos of his reserve games on LCFC.com, I thin he should get a chance. Not fussed about McKay or Kee, but Chambers as something.
Babylon Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Not fussed about McKay or Kee... ??? You were getting your knickers in a twist over Kee going in the last thread.
Hitesh Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Would like to see more of Chambers next season, just hope NP gives him a chance to be involved in the squad. Or a good loan somewhere in L1.
Mark Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 He should have gone out on loan last season, with no reserve team, what exactly was he doing all season? He looked very good at Palace but then we saw nothing of him again with Dickov and Hayles preferred! When things are like this here it doesn't surprise me that the likes of Kee see leaving as the better option..
potter3 Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Unless we bring in a striker with pace he's the only striker near the first team with any pace, quite often last season when we were struggling for goals, we needed someone who could make runs beyond the oppositions defence, looked useful against Palace, looked the most likely that night to make something happen.
Munzie Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 From what I've seen of him (pre-season and the odd reserve match), like Billy Kee, he's another that we should hang on to. Throughout this season, mainly due to his cameo appearences in the pre-season matches, I could see him breaking into the first team in a similar fashion that Andy King did, the odd game here and there and cover for injured players. Make his mark and claim the starting spot for himself. Whether it was down to injury or not in Pearson's plans, it didn't happen. I'd have been quite happy to see him on the bench ahead of Dickov. Another promising youngster that needs match practice. Let's hope we see the return of our reserve team/league next season. Either that, or a short term loan with a recall option.
Tommy G Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Never mind all the bish bash, if he was good enough to play then Pearson would have stuck him on?
potter3 Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Never mind all the bish bash, if he was good enough to play then Pearson would have stuck him on? He's been injured quite a bit hasn't he?
Tommy G Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 He\s been injured quite a bit hasn't he? Yeh he has, but not for the whole season
flanimal Posted 12 May 2009 Author Posted 12 May 2009 ???You were getting your knickers in a twist over Kee going in the last thread. I think City should keep Kee, but if he leaves I'm not really bothered. Certainly no knickers twisting yet!
Shrenchel Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Never mind all the bish bash, if he was good enough to play then Pearson would have stuck him on? Exactly. The guy is clearly an excellent judge of a player's ability and would have watched him day in, day out in training. Playing backseat manager and moaning about youngsters not being given a chance if fair enough when we're stuck with some clueless disabled in charge but people have got to be on a wind up questioning Pearson's judgement from a couple of reserve team matches they've seen or whatever.
Edmund Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Exactly. The guy is clearly an excellent judge of a player's ability and would have watched him day in, day out in training. Spot on
flanimal Posted 12 May 2009 Author Posted 12 May 2009 questioning Pearson's judgement from a couple of reserve team matches they've seen or whatever. I'm not saying Chambers should play instead of Fryatt or Howard, 'caue he shouldn't, but I just wondering if people think Chambers could break through next year, if only as an impact substition. Pearson makes the right decisions (usually).
Munzie Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Exactly. If only it was as easy as that. Pearson is a good judge of character but also had a job to do. Get promoted or get sacked. Having found a winning formula in the regular eleven he selected and with no reserve team all season, it gives youngsters very little opportunity to break through when you have supposedly experienced players such as Hayles, Dickov etc waiting in the wings. I can understand some of the fustration in some of our fringe players this year. As Pearson can only choose a squad of 16 week in week out, match practice is a rare commodity. We can't just wave goodbye to all the players that don't make the team sheet.
Leicesterboi Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 If we aren't careful though we will have alot of youth team players leaving due to the lack of first team opportunities or any form of competetive football. I think alot of this can be resolved by the re-registering in the Reserve League. Atleast that way there can be some sort of marker as to how close a player is to breaking into the first team. As you may have noticed, I am a big fan of Billy Kee, and agreed much of my judgement is based on Youth Team games and the occasional behing closed door friendly. But if we had a reserve team, more of us would have chance to go and watch how the yound lads fair against bigger, faster stronger and more experienced players in a competetive environment. Im sure even NP himself would benefit from this.
potter3 Posted 12 May 2009 Posted 12 May 2009 Yeh he has, but not for the whole season Yeah but as has been said, with no reserve team it's hard for players to get back near to match fitness, for most players this season once they've not played for a while they've lost their place to someone who has been playing regularly. Basically, what it boils down to is, we need to play in some sort of reserve league next year
