Finnegan Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 How Welsh is Andy King? He doesn't sound it, and Maidenhead is where he was born. Plus, I have never seen him eating a leak once... He's Welsh like Hargreaves is English.
flanimal Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 He's Welsh like Hargreaves is English. Hargreaves is English? The Canadian born, German raised, Englishman. Oh yes.
bluebeau Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 So there is supposed to be interest from Premier League clubs? That doesn't mean we are prepared to sell him if a club comes in for him. I thought & I hope that the days when we were a 'selling club' are in the past? If MMs' ambition is for NP to take us into the Prem, then we have to hold on to players like Andy King. Well done Andy, you deserve this recognition following a very good season for City!
Cobbo Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Deserves it. Surprised it did not come sooner with the season he was having and the lack of players Wales have. Good lad Kingy.
flanimal Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 They always say Premier League clubs are interested. Maybe some have been impressed, but I think he wants to stay with Leicester, and I imagine NP considers him a major part of the first team. If he can't get in Leicester's first 11, he doesn't have much hope in a Premier League team. But King is only going to get better, a bit of international games, and he'll improve big style.
Finnegan Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Deserves it.Surprised it did not come sooner with the season he was having and the lack of players Wales have. Good lad Kingy. Like I've said before, really, we might not be a great side but the center of midfield is one area we just don't really have a shortage. Especially of young players. Take nothing away from his season but neither himself nor Joe Allen would be this close to a real starting eleven for the seniors if Collison and Davies weren't injured and we weren't playing Estonia.
Corky Posted 13 May 2009 Posted 13 May 2009 Well done to the lad. Deserves it after the season he's had. Hope he takes his chance (if selected).
Thracian Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Wonderful news and an outstanding achievement in so short a time. There's no reason either why King should not be a credit to his country at senior level. He plays the game so simply. But for all that he has various qualities as a midfielder to go with his basic ability to control and ability to pass the ball quickly. He's decent in the air both in attacking and defensive situations, he can shoot even under pressure, he's got good durability and shows good discipline in all situations. I've even been surprised on occasions by the clever skills he has on the ball whenever he's under pressure or in a possible goalscoring situation. He doesn't use them much because he is generally disinclined to take unnecessary risks in his normal midfield environment but they're another plus and when the various assets are put together they should, when added to his developing strength, make for an excellent and improving international. As always I wish him well.
flanimal Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 As always I wish him well. Now all we need is for Levi Psssh to get a call-up to the Jamaican national team, and LCFC will be on the map!
Thracian Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Now all we need is for Levi Psssh to get a call-up to the Jamaican national team, and LCFC will be on the map! At this time Levi will do well to prolong his career in professional football at all. In fact it is quite remarkable how the footballing paths of King and Psssh have changed. At one time they were undoubtedly the two best pass-and-move footballers in the club. Psssh's first team career started promisingly, faltered a little when he was deemed sufficient threat to be double-banked, yet he still made a decent number of appearances and had a fair record of goals and assists in his first full season. Chelsea, arguably the scene of one of his best performances and so nearly an outstanding City triumph, ended in the injury that wrecked the best part of a season for him and he clearly couldn't cope with returning to his best form in the subsequent pre-season and being overlooked. Whatever's happened since, he doesn't seem to have received much in the way of effective psychological help. Kingy meanwhile, from being constantly and inexplicably overlooked by Horror-Way has emerged from the same Academy and reserves set-up as Psssh to play a major role in a promotion season and to force himself into full international contension. I've known the sort of family backing Kingy's had from the first time I saw him play four seasons back. Dad, mum and sisters were always there to be seen. What support Levi's had or has now I've no idea but he sure seems to need some more judging by comments that are made both on here and in passing. It's such a pity. Levi was a bloody good footballer and I hope he's got the strength of character to rebuild his career from the rubble that its apparently become. He has to do that himself and his first need is to get himself somewhere they want him and might appreciate him. Anyone from Crewe reading this?
Scow Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Great news for King and fully deserved. I was critical of him earlier in the season, but he certainly improved as the season went on. I didn't feel he imposed himself enough in games and tended to go missing. I think the inclusion of Berner and Davies has helped bring his game on. Hopefully he can adapt to playing in the Championship.
flanimal Posted 17 May 2009 Posted 17 May 2009 Psssh did something. We all know that. He's 5''3" though, maybe after football he could have a successful career as a jockey...
Houdini Logic Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 I'm sure he will impress if he remembers which direction is forward
Munzie Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Good luck to Andy King. Just shows you what a season he has had. A senior call up can only do good for the lad's confidence which, inturn, will hopefully benefit us next season.
Finnegan Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Doesn't he know this is England? We'll have none of that flag waving Waleish shit around here, Mr. C.
Finnegan Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 Andy King > Joe AllenThat is all. To be fair, David Bevan > Joe Allen.
Red Leicester Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 To be fair, David Bevan > Joe Allen. He was at our last game - I think Bevan may be signing for us this summer. Have you heard anything about this Knowitall?
Finnegan Posted 18 May 2009 Posted 18 May 2009 He was at our last game - I think Bevan may be signing for us this summer.Have you heard anything about this Knowitall? I can confirm that Bevan, who qualifies for Wales through his grandmother, is set to make at least one international appearance next year. From what I've read he's a fairly local lad and is interested in signing for city. I think he'll see action in at least half our games next year if he comes.
