Its sounds like Dublin's going to leave as CL won't offer him a decent contract. If he leaves he will end up going to a club like cov or hull and I can see him coming back to haunt us. OFFER HIM A CONTRACT NOW CL THE MANS CLASS.

I love Dion, he simply must stay and end his career with us- dont be a knob CL sort it out!

Dion has got better and better as the seasons worn on, but what you need to look at is.

1) His contract was ending and perhaps he stepped up a gear to earn a new deal?

2) He's been playing in defence for the majority of the season and our defence has been awful at times, which he's contributed to.

3) He has looked good upfront the last 2 games, but at 36 would you want him as your first choice striker next season? If not, would you want him in defence where he's shown a lack of pace and concentration?

Personally, I think Dion has won the fans over and that's the way it should stay. At 36, I think another season here might be a waste. He'd be a decent squad player, but he wouldn't want to be that and I don't want him to be here for another season if he isn't going to play. I wanted CL to give him another deal, but after some serious thought we can do without him. His wages could bring in a young and ambitious striker who will be here for longer than a season.

I think we should allow him to leave. Cheers for glimpses of your old self Dion, it was nice to see you finally come home. It's not personal, it's business.

Its not about his age though, He's stated that he feels really fit and he will carry on until his body says otherwise. I was sitting with a Leeds fan on Saturday and he was amazed at how fit Dion looked. Give him another season I say, His experience and presence on the pitch is indispensable and if he leaves it will be left to De Vries to nurture the young strum :S I know who I would prefer :)

So Long and thanks for all the fish!

Dion reminds me of sir Les, we will all be gutted if he leaves but the chances of him perfomring like he has in the last 10 games over the course of next season are very slim indeed.

He will only be back up anyway as i cant see him being first choice in up front or at the back.

If craig also sees it this way and his budget is small why pay big bucks to someone who is not going to be a regular.

I don't agree our defence has been awful, we have conceeded less goals than some of the sides in the play offs and that has been with greasy playing.

I'd definately give hima new contract, he oculd easily be our only ecperienced player next season and we need leaders on the pitch. If we were to let him go it would be a massive mistake.

I think he deserves a new contract. From Christmas onwards, he has perhaps been our best player.

He's the only player in the squad who is a leader on the pitch - You can see the effect he provides with his encouragement and guidance to players around him.

If you take away the goals we've conceded from set pieces, we've conceded very little from open play, and he is largely responsible for that when played in central defence.

I'd give him a new contract, I'd rather have him in my squad than someone elses.

If he agrees to halve his wage demands, or at least what he's currently on, then i'd keep him. If not then he's not irreplaceable, we shouldn't be paying out around £10,000 a week to a 36 year old.

I'm not fussed either way, he would only be a short term, 1 season option. If CL thinks he can help in the transition of the team from shite to promotion candidates then fine. Overall I do not believe we have had full value for money from him this season, but then there's very few that we have.

i think it was his goodbye on sunday hence being subbed with a few minutes to go :(

He was subbed because his neck was hurting, which is probably a good reason for not giving him a new contract.

Get rid he is old and not in the age bracket that CL is after. He was utter crap for at least half the season and suddenly a goal at Charlton and he's a hero. His wages could be used to bring in 2 players that are hungry for success, I'd rather that than an ageing player after one last pay day.

Look how poor Les Ferdinand has been after he left us.

Thanks for your efforts post January but the rest of your time you were frankly disgraceful and extracting the urine.

Onwards and upwards.

I agree with Hoof - respect to Dublin for having done so well recently but we need to think of the future and not just another one-season-veteran.

He has done very well this season however maybe we shouldn't be just rewarding him for doing well by giving him a new a new contract.

I can't quite see where I would play him next season and I doubt he would sit on the bench.

If we were in the Prem on 05/06, he'd definitely get a contract. As things are, it's a tough call for Levein. He's surely only got one season left in him and we can't afford to be giving first team places to those who won't be around in 12 months.

As much as I hate to say it, perhaps it's "Farewell Dion". :(

On a different note, he's proved a lot of people wrong, especially over the last three months (myself included) - no-one at the club has a bad word to say about the guy and I'll be sorry to see him go - if he does.

This post sums up the DD situation perfectly. :D:D:thumbup:;)

Dion came good in the end and though I would like him to stay cos I think he can still get the odd goal for us, but if he is going to cost us 10k a week then I would be rather pizzed with CL if he cant find someone better to spend the money on.
