Danno Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 If they want to prejudice against people because they think they'll be prejudiced against them without actually finding out first hand that that prejudice exist, that's their problem. You obviously know that these people have or haven't applied for these jobs, so i'm clearly wasting my time here.
Stadt Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Because of the bias people have against black peoples' percieved intellectual capability. Are you on the wind up? I'm pretty sure 99% of people don't think black people are less intelligent - Seing as the people in charge of football clubs are usually successful business men I so I very much doubt that they would be that overtly racist

Dan Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Ridiculous concept and undoubtedly more racist than the current system. I bet some will still claim it's progress as well.
Soar Fox Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 So which black manager has had an interview and not got a job because of his colour?
Dan Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 What happens if for instance Paul Ince keeps going for interviews at top premiership clubs and he doesn't get the job. Will clubs then be accused of being racist? No doubt. You'll get some believing his utter drivel too. I can't believe people don't just collectively sit and laugh at idiots like him and Campbell. Would you really want someone who blames others for his own shortcomings as your manager? It's loser mentality. I'd avoid that more than I'd avoid any race.
Dan Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How on earth is making football more diverse racist? Because you're giving an advantage to people because of their race. That's racist. Seen that Guardian article. Stopped reading at the bit about Campbell moaning about not being England captain because he's black. Utterly ridiculous how that is taken as evidence that racism exists in the game. I'm not saying there's no racism in football, but this particular subject is making a mountain out of a molehill. I'd like to see some genuine evidence of black managers not being appointed on the basis of their skin colour rather than the likes of Jason Roberts playing a mini violin.

Giving people who often don't get opportunities more opportunities isn't racist. It just isn't.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 It's about equality, it's clear that black managers don't get the same opportunities as white managers.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How's it clear? Do you have definitive proof that black people are applying but failing to get jobs?
Dan Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Giving people who often don't get opportunities more opportunities isn't racist. It just isn't. There's still no evidence that the opportunities aren't there. It's about equality, it's clear that black managers don't get the same opportunities as white managers. Yeah, equality, by making one rule for one and one for the other. It's the total opposite to equality. Equality would be to identify those who are racist (with evidence rather than assumptions) and to deal with them accordingly.

It's really not when things are far from equal in the first place.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 It's really not when things are far from equal in the first place. If they people are starting off thinking that people won't treat them equally so why bother, then they won't get anywhere. Such a defeatist attitude. Why don't they try asking, before they start complaining about getting the wrong answer to a question they never asked.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How's it clear? Do you have definitive proof that black people are applying but failing to get jobs? The amount unemployed reiterates this. I can't find actual figures on the applied sadly, but the percentage of black managers should be enough to indicate there's clearly a problem. I don't necessarily agree with this rule entirely and I'm not entirely sure if it would help, but I'm just thankful that we're at least trying to resolve these issues rather than just pin it on either "black managers cba applying" or "black managers just aren't good enough"
Dan Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 If they felt that strongly about if they'd have at least named the clubs they've applied for, or provided some examples. I've seen not a jot of evidence to suggest that it's anything but a select few putting things down to race because they know it's a touchy subject that the authorities often bend over backwards for.

Extremely disappointing that that's the route a lot seem to have gone down without any evidence to back it up.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How do you know they haven't asked? How do you know they have?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 Sol Campbell wasn't made England captain because it's clear the bloke has next to zero bottle, great as he was. Chastise Terry all you want but there's no denying that on the pitch he's unflappable. Campbell was a fantastic defender but mentally he'd have never been up to it.
Jimothy Posted 5 June 2015 Posted 5 June 2015 How do you know they have? So how do you know race was the reason he failed to get interviews? Maybe he was shooting too high too early. We just don't know, and that just one example anyway. Plus earlier you were saying they wouldn't apply because they perceived people would prejudice them so they didn't see the point. You can't use both arguments. I've just checked something anyway. 5% of the the league managers are black, 3% of the population as a whole is a black. There's actually a over representation of black people in football management.
