I might not be representative of eloquence but im not a chav either. I'll say what I like when I like to whom I like. I don't need a life lesson by a little oink like you who has just grown a few hairs on his balls in last 12 months. The GCSE and A'level is easier now than in my time despite how many teachers you may speak to. No go back into your bedroom and play on your xbox.

Seems to me that this is a generalisation and insult based on Nod.E's age. Shame, I was enjoying reading a decent debate, then you had to lower the tone. You may be older, but it seems your much less mature than Nod.E.

Oh and I know this is off topic but you have to be rebellious in life from time to time.

- On this evidence, you're the one that seems to have gone through more puberty over the last few months.

- I never said anything about you not being able to say your opinions, I merely dis-agreed.

- I love how i'm a 6ft 1" 'little oink.'

- You have not taken A levels, or GCSE's at the present moment, thus you have no arguement.

- I don't like xbox's, and I don't see the attraction with them. I bought one to see what all the hype was about, and sold it a month later.

Now, is there anything else that you'd like me to contradict? :)

TBH i thought you were 3-4 foot.

Mainly because when you post i think of this.

Nobody actually knows if exams are getting easier because cross generational comparison is impossible.

That's right, no one.

Apart from those who deliver the subjects.

So, no one apart from educators.

And those who annually recruit students to University.

So that's no one apart from educators and University staff.

And business employers...

...apart from all of them no one actually knows if the exams are getting easier.

They don't 'know' anything

Considering how hard an exam might be is 'subjective' it is an 'opinion'

and is unprovable.

I am one of those educators you talk about and I would challenge anyone even the people who write the exams (who I have regular CPD with) to prove the difference in difficulty between 2 exams from any year.

How difficult an exam is perceived to be comes from a hugely complex spectrum of variables, none of these easily isolated and none understood in relation to all others at any given point in time.

What specification, the content of that specification, the number of days afforded the curriculum etc etc etc all play important roles in determining peoples perceptions of difficulty.

So no one 'knows' if exams are getting easier or not. People hypothesise based on their experiences.

I've just dug out my old GCE Maths papers from 1963, yes I do still have them

I don't know if they are any easier than today's but they do seem to involve a lot of sittings - 3 papers totalling 6.5 hours.

Arithmetic & Mensuration

Algebra

Geometry & Trigonometry.

Here's the Arithmetic one:

There's always one...

really? How regular?

Usually 3 times a year (one for each examinable component)

However this year due to specification changes it has been 5 times.

Wow! I occasionally scan the 'foxestalk' forum to see what's going on in the world of Leicester City, whether it is to discover that we're after another Bulgarian from CSKA or that Kisnorbo is upset that he left the club that he barely performed for! But I never expected a debate on the importance of GCSE's and whether the exams are getting easier! The guy that uploaded a link to a previous GCSE maths paper is a legend, lol, that exam is easy! I took my GCSE'S over 10 years ago and I swear it was not as easy as that! But from my memory it is true that the step up from GCSE to A level is huge, as I was a respectable B student at GCSE and when I got my first grades back in O or A/S level shit hit the fan that I needed to work harder, so I did. I don't think the media should pick up on it as much as it does, but with this recession soon to hit the budding student/graduates it does imply that changes need to be made lower down the system and more practical lessons need to adopted, ie, in maths, relate it to statistics and more business orientated rather than being boring calculus; And the push of internships and earning apprenticeships rather than entering the university system reading lesser degrees. At the end of the day who can blame the students for doing it, the system is in place for them to abuse! I mean I did, as I'm in a job that required me to acquire skills at university regarded on-line development, but I could have stayed home and read many books!!

Pearson is not the brightest then?! He is signing Dany N'Guessen, you heard it from me first. BIG MISTAKE! Another Hossein Kaebi! My friend was a player for Lincoln and N'Guessen is terrible.

If he is supposedly shit as you say he is (with no credible source may I add, apart from some unknown Lincoln player who could have been shit himself) then I very much doubt he is like Hossein. For a start he can speak English.
