davieG Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 Queens Park Rangers have appointed Jim Magilton as their new manager. Magilton has signed a two-year deal to succeed Paolo Sousa at Loftus Road. The former Northern Ireland international has been out of work since April after being sacked by Ipswich. Magilton is excited at the prospect of taking over at ambitious Rangers and he is confident they can improve on last season's 11th place finish in the Championship. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of managing this great football club," Magilton told the club's official website. "The board are highly ambitious, but they are very realistic at the same time. I have huge ambitions to achieve as a Manager though, and our aim is to keep progressing, year after year. "There is a very strong group of players at the club and with one or two additions over the summer, we can expect to be in a position to drastically improve upon the eleventh place finish secured last season.
lou Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 Not sure about this one.... cant see him being left alone to run the team his way anyway.
Fox92 Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 Should do well, good man, good manager. Has a fair amount of cash to splash so decent players should be arriving but how long till he gets sacked? Well if he looses his first 5 games bet he will go...
C-man Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 Harsh to judge, but already I can't see this is appointment in any other way than as a simple 'Yes man'.
hairy Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 They are nowhere near as bad as us in the last two seasons
Ultra Posted 3 June 2009 Posted 3 June 2009 How long will he last?Place your bets please. Six months, maximum..
Corky Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 They are nowhere near as bad as us in the last two seasons No, they are far worse.
Granno Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 A bad start and he could be gone. They want to be challenging for the title.
Fosse Boy Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 My QPR supporting mate is none too thrilled with this appointment.

Flynny Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 He had a decent amount of money to spend at Ipswich, he just spent it badly. Gareth McAuley. Probably the best they could get considering how much of a joke club they've become.
The Doctor Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 He won't last - 3 weeks into the season unless they are top of the table .
Craig Posted 4 June 2009 Posted 4 June 2009 This is like reading the thread when Pearson took over here
