lcfc_jme Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 Samuel Eto would be an idiot to turn down the money hes apparantly being offered. If he's being offered £200k p/w AFTER tax, he'd become part of a growing development and be completely sorted for the rest of his life after two seasons, and have the possibility of firing them to trophies if he does his job properly.
Ultra Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 I think the difference is that Man U can support their level of spending through future revenues. ..and through their fan base, without recourse to sugar daddies.

And 10 other lives if he had the chance
lcfc_jme Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 he's already sorted out for the rest of his life! And 10 other lives if he had the chance Not if he has a gigantic family and gets a drink/gambling problem.. Y'know, like all ex-footballers do
Ultra Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Santa Cruz aims for top four spot But they'll need to sign at least two quality defenders and a midfielder before they can get anywhere near the big four..
DB11 Posted 1 July 2009 Posted 1 July 2009 Well not quite as i'm 16 and I have a paper round Become a Referee.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 I have been following events at Man City since the ADUG takeover and must say that I am completely baffled by what is going on there. From the moment Shinawatra 'sold' his stake it was a racing certainty that Hughes was going to get the old heave ho and Mourinho and his concubines were going to move in. And when the perfect opportunity for the transition presented itself (the dismal 10th finish) nothing happens. Virtually every A list player has been linked to the club with record breaking fees and mind boggling contracts being tossed around. In Kaka's case, both the club's and player's reps appeared to go through a carefully choreographed charade to persuade us that the move was well and truly on. But the only deal that went through that drew international attention was for a mercurial talent who could not hold down a first team place at his club. Robinho apart, the (purportedly) unlimited funds have been thrown at B listers - Bellamy, Barry, Santa Cruz, Lescott. Good solid pro's to a man but Champions League material? And along came Carlos and Sam - EXACTLY the sort of players you need to book an awayday at the Nou Camp and the San Siro. Once again the air was thick with talk of record fees and ridiculous contracts. And then, surprise, surprise, Sam shuffled out. Tevez though was a done deal wasn't he? Well I thought so until yesterday and then the rumour went round that he too might walk away. Ok so it is the silly season (almost) and there's nothing else but transfer rumours to fill the back pages and when all is said and done Man City will not be in the Champions League next season. But still. Those of you who don't want to know the caption please look away now...
Uncle Albert Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 As if JT was ever going to leave Chelsea for Man City! They are deluded.
AyewJoking Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Man City can buy as many top players as they want but they must get rid of Hughes and bring in an experienced, successful boss.
Darkzzz_ Posted 3 July 2009 Posted 3 July 2009 Man City and Real Madrid should form a two team league.

I dont agree with this, I think we might see a new Hughes this season, with a little more confidence and a more settled squad. Sure hes not the best manager out there but the last thing city need is constant manager rotation.

Man City are going to be full of money hungry players like Robinho and they need a boss who they respect. Hughes is out of his depth IMO but we'll see what happens. Man City will have to qualify for the Europa League at least next season.

It will be interesting to see whether Robinho is whisked off to Barcelona during this window. Interesting too to see whether Hughes' public declaration of admiration for Eto'o reels the little fishy in. Most intriguing of all though is whether Senor Tevez is unveiled as a City player on Monday as predicted by some (though there hasn't been a peep out of the Murdoch media on this for a fortnight now).
StanSP Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 Lining up Maicon, along with Madrid (Press Association). These are the kind of defensive possibilities they should look at.
Ultra Posted 4 July 2009 Posted 4 July 2009 But top players aren't going to move to teams that can't even offer Europa League football.
