College refuses entry to women wearing Veils

Why should they have to take their coverings off if they don't set the metal detectors off?! There are machines that x-ray us as we walk through the airport. No need to take a head cover off cos the security know if you have anything under there. So it's not an arguement.

Absolutely no need at all. If it was a risk it wouldn't be allowed.

I was actually laughing at the posts that I had quoted from you.

Unfortunately, I had to pick up on Bab's point as well, and it ended up in the same post.

I also think that your post above is a bit silly.

With all the confusion flying around in this thread empty does have a valid point.

I know some airports have screenings behind walls which detect things like pulse rate and heat (I think :dunno:).

Its mainly used to spot nervous people who are carrying drugs on them etc.

Saying that they must get a lot of false alarms with people who are scared of flying.

It wasn't really relevant though in the context. ;)

I know you were!

But I don't see why my point about bikini vs covered up is funny! I was just saying it's a free country so women should be free to walk the streets in either state of dress.

And the other comment was about how we should let kids be kids and not teach them those kinds of things. Certainly not at 5 or 6. They 6 years old for F sake! Basically, the government are saying that we should teach our kids about this stuff as soon as they start infant school! Wtf. I can't understand why it's funny saying that, it is wrong surely?

It's entertainment, but nothing he says is factual. Seems like he bases his assumptions on propaganda and not on truth. Too many people don't understand this subject and get it all wrong. The man's way out and would get smashed in a debate cos he obviously doesn't understand the subject he talking about.

He sure can play the piano though

So according to you there's probably ZERO muslims on the planet then, nobody is that pure, mate!! :D

There's millions who follow the book. Humble people allover the world, I personally know a Jamaican, a Mexican, a Chinese, a white Muslim and a few Asians who all follow it strictly. And they are the best kind of people, you could trust them with anything. And they would help you out anytime. I would say that they are the closest thing to pure I've ever seen.

I know alot of people who don't care about money, give it away alot and never rip anyone off. They probably are hard to come by though I suppose in our part of the world cos people are very competitive with eachother.

On the subject of headscarf has anyone seen the news of the pregnant Muslim woman stabbed to death in court in Germany?

She was stabbed 18 times by the defendent in front of her 3 year old kid and husband and others in the courtroom. Her husband is also in a critical condition after trying to help (and also bieng shot by the security guard who said he thought the husband was the attacker). The security guard only intervened once and that was when he shot the husband.

The woman was in court cos her neighbour had been harassing her for months and calling her a terrorist cos she wore a scarf. It was the accused neighbour who stabbed her.

If this was the other way round and a Muslim man had stabbed a pregnant German woman to death in court then this would be all over the news for months and months.

Not being funny, but factual? What about religion is factual? I'm not about to have a full arguement about religion, but I thought that was worth bringing to light.

His music is based on propaganda, but I suppose it has to be to have an audience that understands his comedy. I like that he takes it a step further, though.

He's an intelligent man, and to be honest I wish I had his brain - I'd actually fancy him in a debate.

Either way, it's funny whether you're an athiest or if you're religious (I assume - sure religious people would see the funny side, agree or not.) - I presume you're religious?

Speaking of science, and still on the topic of religion and Tim Minchin; His 9 minute beat poem called 'Storm' is relevant. See below, a snippet.

“You’re so sure of your position

But you’re just closed-minded

I think you’ll find

Your faith in Science and Tests

Is just as blind

As the faith of any fundamentalist”

“Hm that’s a good point, let me think for a bit

Oh wait, my mistake, it’s absolute bullshit.

Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed

Faith is the denial of observation so that Belief can be preserved.

If you show me

That, say, homeopathy works,

Then I will change my mind

I’ll spin on a fooking dime

I’ll be embarrassed as hell,

But I will run through the streets yelling

It’s a miracle! Take physics and bin it!

Water has memory!

And while it’s memory of a long lost drop of onion juice is Infinite

It somehow forgets all the poo it’s had in it!

He can kind of go more in-depth and look past propaganda, as it's a beat poem, and not a song. (He doesn't have to fit it all into a song, so he can rant a little bit!)

To be fair that's a quite a shit poem, i'm not joining the debate, i'm sure he has alot better work!!!!

well, most of his work isn't ranting about religion!

His other songs include a song about his blow up doll, for example. :D

Did you watch it on youtube? - The thing I put in was a randomly placed snippet. So if that's why it's shit, the full thing, in context can be seen here

I can't view you tube or streamin media at work, when I get the chance I will Nod E.

When it comes to religion vs science, everyones entitled to there own opinion. Just like those who aren't religious hate religion being stuffed down there throat, the same goes for those that believe in a superior concious, they also don't like the non religious stuffing science etc down there throat!!! Each to there own!!

It's the two posts seen together that made me giggle. There was a certain irony in allowing our daughters to wear as much or as little as we like, but we must not teach them the facts of life.

What I meant was, the things he says about the religion is not how it is. It is just all the myths put into a song.

I'm not saying he's not clever, he obviously is, he just doesn't seem to know about that subject. I've seen a few of his vids over the last year.

I'm not religious cos I drink whisky and play poker online to earn money and I think all religions say you can't do those things.

Interesting story I thought and my view was that its fair enough. Wearing of veils is NOT a religious requirement of Islam its something thats chosen, so I dont see why places cant insist they are removed whilst on their premises.

If a white lad turned up with a scarf covering his face they definately wouldnt get in!

I personally hate the full face veils and think its very hard to communicate with someone when you cannot see their facial expressions. I cant imagine why anyone would want to wear one.. must get quite hot and uncomfortable in this heat!

I don't see what the problem is! Women should not be allowed into further Education as it is let alone wearing wedding gear.

Science and true religion go hand in hand. The original books all encourage scientific thought. And if it weren't for Islam the scientific world would be nowhere near what it is today. All the top scientists of the middle ages (I think the time frame is right) learnt from Islams science.

We should teach them the facts of life! That's what I'm saying, WE, the parents should do it. Not some stranger and not at 5 or 6 years old. It's only the age at which the government is starting it that I was complaining about. I just think we should leave kids to be kids for a bit longer before we start all that

Wow, not one response about the pregnant woman stabbed to death in a courtroom! If it was committed by a Muslim man there would probably be 10 pages by now

Well according to you that's an impossible scenario, he couldn't possible a muslim more likely the CIA pretending to be a Muslim.
