ob1kanobe0 Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Worse than the Vikings, certainly. Do you really think that if you think it through? They hardly turn up with aggressive intent. A child's perception of invader, is a cartoon character type, intent on doing harm. When that child turns into an adult, he/she learns very quickly that their own space can be invaded by accident. When that adult forms a home, they create a set of rules/laws, one of them is a boundery for which not everyone is welcome. An English mans home is his country castle, or can anyone walk into your home willy nilly? I notice abuse is rearing its ugly head on FoxesTalk again. Lisa, sort em out, Lisa, Lisa sort em out

An invader used in the way you were trying to evoke were military men who came over to displace and turf out locals with violence. That's not a childlike perception, it's the invaders of old you were discussing yourself, but it was good to see you be patronising regardless. Nice work. The fact that illegal immigrants are not these sort of people doesn't change because you can categorise them using the same word if you try really hard. Plenty of illegal immigrants are desperate people and most don't leech off the state - in what way does that bear comparison with rampaging Norman hordes?
Flynny Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 obe1konobe0 = the new Thracian.. Does a disservice to Thracian to be honest.
Flynny Posted 19 July 2009 Posted 19 July 2009 Perhaps so. At least Thracian has some brains.. Tries to engage in logical debate and doesn't have an oddly schizoid personality (often within the same post), either. Has he been missing lately? Just noticed I've not seen him on here in a bit.

Anychance you can offer your mind reading skills to Nigel? Second thoughts, better not I was being patronising because of your words, it was you want it? Anyone entering a foreign land illegally or your home uninvitedly, is an invader. Why the abuse folks?

Koke Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 The only people who have walked into broke into my home have been English crackheads, no immigrants The 3 group of people "feared" most in this country and are used as scare tactics by the Daily Mail as such: Immigrants Muslims Niggaz Black people used to be top, but Muslims have dominated it for nearly a decade now. Immigrants are still there or thereabouts, they got a massive squad, but still need a few good signings in the right positions. It's a good 3 horse race.

I know a few folks who have read that paper for 20 years and it's scary the kind of shat they think is reality. They believe fantasy is reality, and when enough people believe that, then the world is in big trouble

Second thoughts, better not I was being patronising because of your words, it was you want it? Anyone entering a foreign land illegally or your home uninvitedly, is an invader. Why the abuse folks? Mind reading? Not really. Words mean things. Dictionary: in·vade (ĭn-vād') v.tr. 1. To enter by force in order to conquer or pillage. Number 4 (i.e. the least common usage) is "To enter and permeate, especially harmfully.", which I suppose you could make a case for, but my point is that using the word invader connotes hostile intent. There is none.
ob1kanobe0 Posted 20 July 2009 Posted 20 July 2009 The only people who have walked into broke into my home have been English crackheads, no immigrants No matter what nationality they are, they invaded your space and you didn't like it.

There is none. You were assuming i said/meant something that i didn't. The first dictionary i found on "invade". 1. to enter forcefully as an enemy; go into with hostile intent: 3. to enter as if to take possession: to invade a neighbor's home. 5. to intrude upon: to invade the privacy of a family. 6. to encroach or infringe upon: to invade the rights of citizens. 8. to penetrate; spread into or over: The population boom has caused city dwellers to invade the suburbs. Alot more, especially No.6

Alot more, especially No.6 True, but you're missing my point somewhat - you could very well say about someone who's broken the law "well they're a criminal and so I say they should be behind bars", which sounds a reasonable enough thing to say, but if you're talking about someone who's got a speeding ticket for doing 35 in a 30 zone it's not really. Logic like "they're invaders and invaders are bad" is exactly the same - sounds reasonable at first but fails to draw any distinctions between anything at all.

You don't really expect somebody with such a simplistic view of such a complicated subject to understand that level of logic do you? You might as well explain the finer points of the Bologna Process to a fridge.
