Katy Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 I've been away long enough to work out a maze of alternative routes to the Jewellery Quarter other than via the M6 from Corley to Spaghetti Junction. I don't think they've stopped repairing or altering that piece of road since I worked at the Birmingham Post and Mail 15 years ago. They must have the richest road gangs in Britain. Ok. Not a 'motorway' thing but still driving-related...Is it just me or do people not seem to flash their headlights to warn others of speed-traps as much as they used to? Is it a dying trend? When I first started driving (many, many years ago! ) it was commonplace and there was a feeling of 'them v us' but very few people seem to do it now. Yesterday I was driving along an A road - several cars passed me - nothing - then the next chap flashed his lights... just as I was approaching a layby where I know the 'safety camera' van is often parked. I duly eased off and tootled past doing 59. So, thanks to that one driver, but 'booo' to all the others. People seem to do that around my way before a village where the police sometimes hang out with speed guns, I always do it although not to wankers. i bet you drive it ironicallykeep to the left and you'll always be right ( ©1994 katy's driving instructor) True say, that advice has never left me.
Daggers Posted 13 August 2009 Author Posted 13 August 2009 RE. flashing headlights, I think a few of you need to re-read your highway code I've rewritten the Highway Code in order to accomodate the amendments I felt needed making.

Alexikokopops Posted 13 August 2009 Posted 13 August 2009 RE. flashing headlights, I think a few of you need to re-read your highway code Isn't it meant to mean that you're ploughing on regardless rather than letting someone pull out in front of you according to the Highway Code? I may have just made that up but I seem to remember reading something like that.

Sir Fynwy Posted 14 August 2009 Posted 14 August 2009 i warn of impending hazards by flashing my hazard lights
SystonFox Posted 15 August 2009 Posted 15 August 2009 I got overtaken by a Austin Metro on the M3 yesterday <_<Another thing that annoys me about motorways is everyone who overtakes you decides to have a nice long look at you while passing you, point of this? to show they are superior to you for those split seconds untill you re-overtake them and have a wacky races style passing frenzy, you know what i mean!
