I was sat in the left hand lane on the M6 between J3 and J2 of the M6 for over an hour today wanting to get onto the M69, all because some selfish **** had hit a motorbike at the top of the A46 slip-road. If I had known that the M69 was clear, I would have just gone down the hard shoulder. Infact, that stretch of motorway has loads of electronic signs, why the fuck couldn't one have said 'For M69, Use Hard Shoulder'?

It would have saved hundreds of people over an hour of their journey home, and if we have the technology to do it, why don't we?

I undertake all the time....ALL THE TIME.

Motorhomes, pre 2000 Mondeos and ANY car built outside Europe and Japan should be banned.

when i'm following a middle lane hogger, i make a point of leaving the slow lane (keep to the left and you'll always be right) going behind them, then into the fast lane, over take then go all the way back to the slow lane. i have no doubt, they haven't got a clue what i've just done, or why, but it makes me feel all righteous. it's also easier to do this on the m69 which is almost always empty.

Do you sometimes get a bit too close to them when carrying out this manoeuvre? I do, and sometimes they even notice.

It's massively irresponsible, I know

I do this, traffic conditions permitting. Otherwise I just pass them on the inside.

I do this too! I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Yep, me too.

Once you've got past them 'innocently' slowing down and boxing them in can be quite amusing too. :innocent::whistle:

I also do this and take it further. Having overtaken them I then slow down so that they overtake me... then I repeat the process again.

I usually get bored at the third circumnavigation.

Too many cars, and too many shit drivers.

In my experience middle lane road hogs are either women who don't want to deviate from their chosen position or elderly foreigners who can't read the road signs, have no idea how to drive and haven't got a clue which lane they are supposed to be in anyway.

Ban the lot then those of us who really need to drive to get some work done - or to get to the football - will be able to enjoy fast, carefree motoring once again - apart from all the road works, speed cameras, lane closures and armies of policemen gathering evidence and measuring up after every prang caused by a shower of rain or the frustration of having to put up with the above.

It's like you've never been away..

I did that all the way to Liverpool and back on Saturday just to amuse myself really. Must have travelled twice as far I had to do it so often.

So that Post-by-numbers software is still working for you then, Tony.

I've been away long enough to work out a maze of alternative routes to the Jewellery Quarter other than via the M6 from Corley to Spaghetti Junction.

I don't think they've stopped repairing or altering that piece of road since I worked at the Birmingham Post and Mail 15 years ago.

They must have the richest road gangs in Britain.

Well if it were fixed, no fecker would use the TOLL road, it's a conspiracy I tells ya!!

Not a 'motorway' thing but still driving-related...

Is it just me or do people not seem to flash their headlights to warn others of speed-traps as much as they used to? Is it a dying trend? :dunno:

When I first started driving (many, many years ago! :P ) it was commonplace and there was a feeling of 'them v us' but very few people seem to do it now.

Yesterday I was driving along an A road - several cars passed me - nothing - then the next chap flashed his lights... just as I was approaching a layby where I know the 'safety camera' van is often parked. I duly eased off and tootled past doing 59. So, thanks to that one driver, but 'booo' to all the others.

I don't see any need to warn others about speed traps and I'm not inclined to speed everywhere. If speeding is your thing you've gotta accept the odd fine.

i flash (my lights) purely to warn people that they're approaching an unsafe stretch of road (that's why the 'safety cameras' are there, apparently) and it would be wise to ease off a bit.

I flash my lights at people just to shit them up a bit

I'm too busy putting my lipstick on to notice.

Sometimes I flash them just to get their attention because I look fucking cool in my car.

But don't you have a people carrier? :P

It's a fucking cool people-carrier and passers-by scream "Look at him, the fucking cool people-carrier driver!"

That's what they scream.

Oh yes.

i bet you drive it ironically

I really don't know why people can't pull over to the left lane, its always almost clear apart from lorries..

keep to the left and you'll always be right ( ©1994 katy's driving instructor)
