Daggers Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Which work well for you? These two have been loaded recently and, being as they are free, I love 'em:
Samilktray Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 I need to get the Sky Sports 1. Paper Toss is my favourite, not exactly useful for anything but its entertaining.
The Birch Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Just downloaded the Sky Sports one, looks good. Theres some really good apps out now. The ones I use most are probably Facebook, Twitterific, Blocked, FT Mobile, The Independant, Radio Times, Things, Sky News. Pocket Alan is funny aswell.
Daggers Posted 9 August 2009 Author Posted 9 August 2009 My favourites at the mo' include: Twitterific BBCReader Telegraph Sky News Groups Ebay Accuweather Multiconvert Colorsplash Road Trip (I adore this app) AroundMe National Rail iFooty ECB Cricket Hold'Em (an amazing poker app) Pocket God Airport Mania Crackcode Checkers iBomber Block Touch Blurb, and Flixster
The Birch Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 My favourites at the mo' include: BBCReader Telegraph Sky News For news try The Independent app if you haven't already. Its got a really good design and more content than the others I think. I've not tried The Telegraph though.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Can't wait till I get my hands on a iPhone, couple of months and I will be there.
CosbehFox Posted 9 August 2009 Posted 9 August 2009 Haven't tried the Sky Sports App yet. Bit disappointed with how iFooty's set out.
Daggers Posted 9 August 2009 Author Posted 9 August 2009 Haven't tried the Sky Sports App yet. Bit disappointed with how iFooty's set out. It was the best footy app when there was nothing else. The Chat function seems to be dominated by the kind of brainless cockends who make maddog seem sentient. The push feeds from the BBC website were great - but I think the new apps like Sky's are going to eclipse it for me. And now it's stopped pushing for some reason!

I've not tried The Telegraph though. Nice call - looks good, and I've just discovered that the smelliest people in the UK are those from Yorkshire.
Unit Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 How much are these things now? can you buy just a handset yet without having to get the contract?
CosbehFox Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 How much are these things now? can you buy just a handset yet without having to get the contract? Yes at the cheapest price of £450 if I remember correctly.
Samilktray Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Probably the most awesome piece of kit I've owned.
Sly Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Try PandoraBox, it basically lets you know which Apps are new or have fallen in price. Quite nice if you want to pick up a bargin. I also have: Poker by Zynga Flixter Facebook iFooty eBay Biggest Brain iPint AccuWeather Remote TapDefense Lux DLX Real Football 2009 X2Football WildWest Shazam Wikipanion Duke Nukem Monkey Island Sky Sports Sky News Probably the most awesome piece of kit I've owned. One of my best buys in the past 12 months.
Alexikokopops Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 I hate smart phones. I'm looking forward to getting a normal phone again.
Unit Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Yes at the cheapest price of £450 if I remember correctly. I hope that's a joke!! Jesus christ
Katy Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 They are too big for my liking, I prefer smaller phones.
Unit Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 Worth it. surely not? my phone cost 50 quid second hand off ebay, it has a better camera and can do nearly everything the iphone can do, i'd rather buy a new laptop and keep my current phone than blow that much on something i'll end up dropping down the bog or getting robbed off me

I can't say I use mine as a phone as much as I do to do other stuff like browsing on the move etc, it's just easier than wipping the laptop out.

Yeah but when do you need to look at stuff when you're out? The most i ever look at is football scores and i can do that on my phone thing
Sly Posted 10 August 2009 Posted 10 August 2009 quote name='Unit' date='Aug 10 2009, 05:07 PM' post='1448323'] Yeah but when do you need to look at stuff when you're out? The most i ever look at is football scores and i can do that on my phone thing Depends, I travel quite a bit so apps like Ebay and Facebook are great, as they are tailor made and don't suffer from the awkwardness of using the on phone web browser. The GPS is nice, it does a job. I use flixster quite a bit if I need Cinema listing times instantly, I select a film and it gives me the list of cinemas within a certain radius from my address and the showings. The games are better than a standard phone and are perfect when your stuck in the back of a taxi for hours on end. Plus it has some nice touches that make everyone laugh like iPint and so on. Okay the price is steep but it'll come down and you can actually pick up a used iPhone a cheaper that £100. you just don't getting the supporting sim tariffs. .... plus I don't get charged to browse whilst I'm roaming, although I do pay £45 a month for the privilege of having unlimited use. It's horses for courses really, I have a blackberry as well and I think that's utter doggo!!
Daggers Posted 10 August 2009 Author Posted 10 August 2009 Yeah but when do you need to look at stuff when you're out? You may not need it - I find it invaluable, I couldn't live without it.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 The virtual Zippo lighter is quality I have that. It's brilliant. Ifooty is handy aswell as is the map function. I love my iphone and would highly recommend one, it has been unimaginably usefull since I got it.
Sly Posted 11 August 2009 Posted 11 August 2009 You may not need it - I find it invaluable, I couldn't live without it. It's one of those things, once you have it, you can't live without it.
