Fox You Forest Posted 22 November 2009 Posted 22 November 2009 Loved the 'John Prescott in Drag' bird that sang at the beginning of the show. Sassy.
BoneDog Posted 22 November 2009 Posted 22 November 2009 Bad news John and Eddie have gone, not happy. Enjoyed watching Louis dance and sing but thats it this week. I can't think of anyone who would buy a record by any of the acts still in this competition.
StanSP Posted 22 November 2009 Posted 22 November 2009 So why didn't she get even with Simon - Who has always sent it to Deadlock?Likelihood is Ollie would have stayed even if it went to Deadlock, but she could have made Simon sweat abit. But you can't take anything for granted as Simon also said. Everyone thought Lucie would have stayed against Jedward, but that didn't happen.
Matt Posted 22 November 2009 Posted 22 November 2009 But you can't take anything for granted as Simon also said.Everyone thought Lucie would have stayed against Jedward, but that didn't happen. Exactly, So Danni could have really got her own back on Simon, Eye for an eye and all that.
FilboFox Posted 22 November 2009 Author Posted 22 November 2009 Also in response to Danni, Has it just become a singing contest? Because if not, then why the fuck have Jedward not gone till now?TBH - Don't know why i'm so bothered - I seem to post in this thread quite abit on Sunday nights though I don't like the show one bit as I said up until end of last series/start of this I never watched it, never interested me, and I thought it to be abit of a joke to music - If you're good enough you'll be found, you shouldn't need to TV Programme that is quite heavily and clearly based around miming, but watching this farce makes me even more wound up Dannii was asking whether she should judge it as a singing contest or an entertainment one... she wasn't saying that it had just turned into one.
Matt Posted 22 November 2009 Posted 22 November 2009 Dannii was asking whether she should judge it as a singing contest or an entertainment one... she wasn't saying that it had just turned into one. Exactly but it is a singing contest, It always has been - Apparently. Surely if it was a singing contest, and they we're judging it as a singing contest Jedward would have gone a long time ago? Thus me saying has it only just become a singing contest or something.
FilboFox Posted 22 November 2009 Author Posted 22 November 2009 Don't understand why everyone thought that Olly being in the bottom two was that big a shock... he's not that good and last night was distinctly average so being in the sing-off with Jedward was always on the cards with everyone else doing so well. Thank fuck that Jedward went though... was getting really tired of them!

Well I think she was getting at the fact that they were only in because they were entertaining and SHOULD have gone weeks ago... perhaps making the point to Simon after he got rid of Lucie, one of Dannii's acts.

I agree, Olly is way overrated but it was still a shock as there is far worse than him and he seems to be very popular.
FilboFox Posted 22 November 2009 Author Posted 22 November 2009 I agree, Olly is way overrated but it was still a shock as there is far worse than him and he seems to be very popular. I agree Lloyd should have been in the bottom two over Olly... but his performance last night wasn't great so for me it wasn't as big a shock as if it had been after one of his other performances.
Fox92 Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Yeh it is shite, but whats wrong with making a 'nobody' a 'somebody'? They should have to start from the bottom and earn their place in the music industry, get scouted and all that like the best of the best, not get put through on some pointless talent contest.
StanSP Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 They should have to start from the bottom and earn their place in the music industry, get scouted and all that like the best of the best, not get put through on some pointless talent contest. Since when did your word become gospel for the music industry?? If they're good enough, they'll earn their place in the music world, whether they start old or young. Take Susan Boyle as an example (amongst plenty of others already been said in previous topics/debates). Awesome voice and earnt her way to becoming a world superstar through singing a fantastic rendition from a well-known musical. Are you denying that she doesn't have talent?

Look at the greatest English artisits; The Beatles, The Who, The Kinks, The Small Faces, David Bowie, Queen, The Jam etc etc and even Blur and Oasis as well as the upcoming greats like Pixie Lott and Lily Allen. They all write their own music - and that is what makes you a real artist. Maybe if they worked from the bottom then I would have respect for them, but when they have other people writing their music and they enter talent contests, no way - Cheryl Cole, Leona Lewis, JLS, Alexandra Burke - don't like any of them. Earn a place in the music industry. And, no I don't rate Susan Boyle - whoever she is. Anyone who isnt The Beatles is shite I think you are actually doing my head it now. This is taken from your quote in the 'Over Rated Song' thread: Foxes 96..... stop now youre boring. We get it..... Someone doesnt like the fecking Beatles and you cant accept that. Its their opinion ffs" I have mine, and you are boring me now.

They may not have worked their way from the bottom or write their own music, but it's probably because they were never given the chance or in some cases don't write their music cause they just don't and they get others, who are very good at it, to do it for them... but the fact still remains that they can sing and sing very VERY well! Whilst I accept that those who you mentioned as being great artists who write their own songs are extremely talented and do/did very well for themselves, you can't discredit current artists that have come through competitions simply because they did just that. Nor can you cast aside the idea that they just didn't have the means to get noticed before the shows... I'm 100% certain that there are some incredible singers and writers out there who haven't made it simply because they can't get the exposure for one reason or another. To argue that only acts that sing and write all of their songs are the talented ones would mean probably around 80%, if not more, of the musical industry isn't talented or doesn't deserve to be there in your opinion. Thankfully there are some more sensible people out there who can appreciate the difficulties of getting noticed and also appreciate the quality singers around in the charts these days who don't write all of their songs!
FilboFox Posted 23 November 2009 Author Posted 23 November 2009 Oh and just to add something else... if being a writer is what makes you an artist, then some of the aforementioned in your last post really aren't very good as some of the lyrics and tunes they churn out are absolute crap.

Like most things in life, its mostly about being in the right place at the right time... pure luck. Im sure theres many talented artists/sportsmen etc out there who never get discovered because they just cant get the breaks. At least this gives some a chance to get heard. I dont even watch it but cant stand this pompous attitude that purely because someone got their break on a TV show theyre less worthy as an Artist than someone who was lucky enough to get discovered in a local club. It makes no sense whatsoever.
lildave3 Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Writing your own lyrics makes you a writer. Singing makes you a performing artist. Is it just me or is that fairly simple?

Fosse Boy Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 I'm going to start a boyband just to annoy Fox92. Anyone want to write our songs/be in the band?

Fosse Boy Posted 23 November 2009 Posted 23 November 2009 Bagsy the one who takes drugs and gets kicked out. OK, I'll be the handsome bandleader who goes on to have a failed solo career and makes a disastrous move into acting.
