Actually, I think I'd rather be the handsome one who throws a hissy fit about our band not being "real music" so I attempt to start an actual real band in which I play an instrument in order to gain the respect of the likes of Fox92.

A drummer is what I believe I will be labelled as.

Was I the only one to think Mariah Carey was awful?

Killed a perfectly good song with her interpretation of a canary!

I sent a text to my aunt who was also watching at the time and it read:

"She should be arrested for murder."

That about sums up my opinion of that performance.

What an utter pile of shite... that just shows how blinkered your attitude is towards musical talent. They may not have worked their way from the bottom or write their own music, but it's probably because they were never given the chance or in some cases don't write their music cause they just don't and they get others, who are very good at it, to do it for them... but the fact still remains that they can sing and sing very VERY well! Whilst I accept that those who you mentioned as being great artists who write their own songs are extremely talented and do/did very well for themselves, you can't discredit current artists that have come through competitions simply because they did just that. Nor can you cast aside the idea that they just didn't have the means to get noticed before the shows... I'm 100% certain that there are some incredible singers and writers out there who haven't made it simply because they can't get the exposure for one reason or another.

To argue that only acts that sing and write all of their songs are the talented ones would mean probably around 80%, if not more, of the musical industry isn't talented or doesn't deserve to be there in your opinion. Thankfully there are some more sensible people out there who can appreciate the difficulties of getting noticed and also appreciate the quality singers around in the charts these days who don't write all of their songs!

I'm going to start a boyband just to annoy Fox92. Anyone want to write our songs/be in the band?

I'll join and then we can perform on talent contests like X-Factor so that we are guaranteed to get labeled as 'talent'.

Some people do slip through the net. I'm not going to say someone from the X Factor has the same talent as a great songwriter like Lennon/Macca/Wilson/Dylan/Whoever, but some of these people do have genuinely good voices. It doesn't make the shows anything more than absolute dross, and even though I watch it I dislike everything about it, but surely you can respect that some of these people do have good natural talent.

I know where you're coming from, but they're pretty much different worlds entirely. They're not really there to be compared. I don't even like the sort of music that comes from X Factor et al. Someone like Alexandra Burke isn't in the same league as these people, but then again she's not really trying to be. It's a different generation and a completely different market.

Oh my God, you are such a bell end! Why does being on the X Factor immediately mean they don't have talent!?! It's the stupidest logic I've EVER heard as NOBODY can even begin to argue that Leona, Alexandra, Will Young and a couple of other singers who have come through contests aren't talented!!!

You clearly know fuck all about the music industry and what being talented means... in fact it's barely worth arguing with you and I don't know why I am...
