The new strikers will be ....

...from the premier.

From bentleys:

'From what I gather, they consider spending upto a million on a Prem striker who has scored goals in the Championship is better than £3m on someone unproven at this level ie Beckford

They may take a punt on Phillips but they have a few irons in a few fires elsewhere as they look to strengthen.

Leroy Lita was definitely on their radar but was asking for something like £20k a week which they wouldn't pay'

Will Nugent drop down divisions though?

Well if he has any sense, he's not exactly set the Premiership alight, he needs a new start really.

Tell us something we don't know...

You knew that did you?

Strange as everyone else seems to be hoping it is Beckford and there are plenty of rumours supporting that theory.

Sorry, just posted from someone who is in the know.

His scoring record is something like 1 in 3 - Even if this wasn't just a mere myth to be speculated upon, I contraversially would have to say...... "dunno....... not sure if I am interested" I'm just not a Nugent fan - young player who had a meteoric rise to ascendancy but did so in my opinion a bit too quickly. Not sure he would have the balls to drop down a division, live in Leicestershire and take the dent in the pride dropping down from the Prem.

1Mil for Nugent would be nice, but not going to happen!

i could see us paying 1 mil for a season long loan with 2m future purchase fee. (or is that just on footie manager)

Healy from sunderland? - actually he's not that prolific.

That would be a great shout. He should be very strong at this level and shouldn't cost too much

Been saying for ages we cannot afford to punt millions on an unproven striker. That and Nigel's unoubted ability to get people playing, and you have a recipe perfect for a failed prem striker to drop down and restore some confidence. Not a bad plan.

Daryl Murphy.

hes going to ipswich isnt he?

good player though, always seemed to come up with a goal when needed for sunderland in the championship and even once or twice in the prem i think!
