Still don't really understand all the technical rules and the fouling but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying the games. Been watching the Eurobasket qualifiers, not the same standard as the NBA but there has still been some pretty exciting matches.

I used to go out with a lad who played for the Leicester Panthers years ago and used to go and watch every game.... didnt understand a fecking thing! Ice Hockey..... got dragged along to watch Coventry Blaze and totally loved it. Going to start attending home games on a Sunday night again once Ive been paid

But my best mate who's an NFL nerd, explained everything to me while we watched a match. Got it from there. Plus a few seasons on Madden didn't harm . Admittedly the matches are a bit/too long!

Didn't Colin Murray used to present it on Five? Only really started getting into it because ESPN America is free for this month. I draw the line at watching the Little League World Series though.

Nope, well not whilst I've been watching them, I haven't watched that much NHL but when I have it's been Nick Halling who does commentary for some of the games on the Football League Show and an American chap who's name I can't remember(Polish sounding surname). NFL has been Mike Carlson an ever present and the main Presenter has changed several times but not Colin Murray as far as I can remember. Not Basketball either. Edit- Wiki says it was NFL.
TrickyTrev Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 I've been in Pittsburgh quite a lot over the past 14 months and have completely fallen in love with NFL. I used to dismiss it due to the breaks for adverts and general ignorance. Now I understand the rules and the culture better I think it is the second best sport on earth. I love the way Americans spend their entire Sunday watching games and the unashamed geekyness of their obsession with fantasy and statistics. Also the sport itself is low scoring enough to produce regular dramatic moments as well as the occasional upset. Such as shame that the main matches each week are on at silly o clock in the UK, means it will never catch on over here.

Webbo Posted 16 September 2009 Posted 16 September 2009 Aussie rules football. They used to show it on channel 4 many years ago and I used to love it. Fast paced, organised thuggery. Great fun.
