WTF?? Youre joking right? lol

Tunchev was poor second half, maybe he wasn't quite match fit/sharp today but I can only go on what I see. Brown and Neilson are taking all the blame today, mainly it seems to me on reputation. Most of Preston's attacks came down our left and Tunchev was either up the pitch and too slow to get back or easily dispossessed.

I thought Brown was decent, the slating he's getting is a tad harsh.

Im not blaming them on rep - I honestly thought they were terrible today. Ive been a Brown lover since he came here but the last couple of games hes been poor and Neilson I didnt think was too bad, again, today I thought was woeful. I really really cant see how you can score Brown higher than Tunch and Berner today thats all?

Tunch is still not match fit Im sure, I do agree that Brown was left on his own a few times when the others were still up the other end of the pitch. :)

the defence was

Neilson Tunchev Brown Berner

so with all attacks coming down our left how can Tunchev, who was the right sided CB be to blame, surely its the combination of Brown and Berner that were at fault

Morrison to start against coventry ?

Y = yes

N = no

Replyyy

You would hope, but not a chance. Brown won't be dropped, neither will Neilson, who is supposedly our only right back. They must be doing something right in training.

I never said anyone in the defence was brilliant but I thought Brown was better than Tunchev today. Brown was the last man a few times today, he had to back off for their 2nd goal he couldn't commit himself with no cover behind him. I thought he was ok today, nothing more.

To be fair Tunchev wasnt exactly on the top of his game but he was no where near as bad as nielson and brown was bad not terrible just he usually gets stuck in but today he was running backwards waiting for them to run at him , Fryatt tryed so hard today he didnt stop running and if im going to be honest the only good thing nielson did good today was his throws .

Neilson is a limited full back who's being asked to do things beyond his capability, you can't doubt his effort and commitment the managment team must take a lot of the blame for exposing him to this situation.

Brown is a limited CB playing in his natural position he lacks skill, finesse and a football brain. He's throwback, the standard of the football in the Championship has moved on since we got promoted with Brian Little unfortunately that's where he'd best fit in.

I find it irritating that he continues to berate his team mates for the slightest mistake whilst making so many himself. Players like Weale and Hobbs need encouragement not a raging loony having a go at them especially from one who's not exactly faultless.

I think that's the reason Pearson keeps him in the team. Oakley is a very quiet capt. I think that we need someone shouting and organizing the team.

I appreciate that it didn't work today though.

Shouting at the team to encourage and motivate yes, organising them yes, loudly/publically berating players for tiny errors no! Even worse when you have a go at the goalkeeper to cover up your own mistakes.

Weale - 6 - His kicks always seem to find the opposition, not much chance with the goals.

Neilson - 4 - Shows little or no composure on the ball, terrible decisions at times.

Tunchev - 5 - Looked a shadow of the player that helped shut up shop against Peterboro in 2nd half.

Brown - 4 - Such a quick demise, worries the hell out of me, clearly not fluent in Bulgarian!

Berner - 6 - Still doing a job and capped a decent performance with the goal

N'Guessan - 3 - Got a big name club on his CV, but then again...so did Sergio Hellings.

Oakley - 5 - Spent part of the first half barking at Neilson, offered little, created nothing of note.

Wellens - 5 - Running on empty, not fit.

Gallagher - 7 - Clever footballer, and made a good tackle 1st half to stop a certain goal. Needs role defining by NP a.s.a.p

Howard - 5 - Petulant at times, booked out of sheer frustration, time for the bench and gallagher to play in place.

Fryatt - 7 - looked sharp, worked hard, we rely too much on matty.

Dyer - 4 -

Waghorn - 5 - dont like the sky blue boots waggy

Kermorgant - 6 - looked like he could do some damage, unlucky with a looping effort just wide.

Weale 5 - Did what he had to do and one cracking save in the first half.

Nielson - 2 Very poor. Out of position and constantly gets too far forward.

Brown - 3 Too slow and has been poor for the last 4 games now.

Tunchev - 5 Couldnt deal with that big lump up front.

Berner - 7 MOM. Consistent. Not great but best defender.

N'Guessen - 5 Didnt do much seemed to run a lot but do nothing

Oakley - 6 Not at his best. Should be disappointed with his display.

Wellens - 5 Not fully fit, cost us the first goal.

Gallagher - 5.5 Not good, should only play up front.

Howard - 5 Won headers thats all. Is he up to this level?

Fryatt - 7 Tried hard without getting anything in return.

You can't criticise him for that as i'm sure he's there under the instructions of the management. Pearson would not be pleased if Neilson said no gaffer I can't go forward too far as I'll piss off peterborofox :P

Weale: 7 - Decent display, not at fault for the goals and some great saves.

Neilson: 4 - From day one i doubted him but was hoping that this long throw would bring something new to the party, but it's just not good at all throwing it high and looping (Delap has power and little arc thats why its effective), overall very poor today... I want Gilbert back! :(

Brown: 4 - Passing and speed again woeful.

Tunchev: 7 - Ok.

Berner: 7.5 - Best defender, always positive as well showing up with a goal.

N'Guessan: 4 - What's happened to the man? Swansea at home seems so long ago.

Wellens: 6 - Even though not fully fit, did ok.

Oakley: 6 - Ok.

Gallagher: 7.5 - Some good crosses and general passing, one of the better players.

Howard: 5 - "Does a job", but always throws the teddy out the cot when stuff doesnt go his way and just stands there with very little effort which I hate to see.

Fryatt: 7.5 - Looked very lively I thought, but seems to be doing it all on his own up there.

Subs

Dyer: 5 - Ineffective.

Waghorn: 6 - Ok.

Kermogant: 6.5 - Tough to say, but definately had a little spark about him which I liked, seems relatively decent in the air too.

Weale 7.5 (Arguably his best game for us. Apart from his hesitant distribution including twice ignoring well-placed throw-out options, he handled the ball well and reacted positively. Did really well to smother a close range effort from Mellor not long after their first goal).

Neilson 6 (His limitations won't disappear and it was painful to watch him waste that chance at the end like some parks player but he was left with so much to do and precious little support at times. Not once did he let his head drop and hide. Poor control and technique let him down and his lack of pace was apparent once more but for all that he should have had better support around him and behind him when he went forward.

Brown 6 (Brought additional pressure on our defence with his poor passing and was forever going to ground which always suggests to me that he was struggling. Did some good things though in what was a difficult situation with capable opponents, a new defensive partner and Tunchev looking so lightweight).

Tunchev 5 (Two good blocks but generally tentative. Preston went through us like butter at times. He wasn't sharp enough, didn't impose himself and didn't inspire. Looked like a periphery player for much of the time and left far too much of a burden on the shoulders of others).

Berner 7 (Stayed keen enough to get us a goal back at the end. He was exposed at times but, like Neilson, part of that was down to the lack of help he got what with us having no winger and Tunchev struggling to do his own job let alone anything extra. I've long said defenders need to be part of the attack when we've got the ball. But forwards have to track back too. There wasn't anyone to track back on Berner's side and N'Guessan didn't do much on the right).

N'Guessan 4 (See above. He's lucky to get four really. Just explored cul-de-sacs and ran into obstacles at the end)

Wellens 5.5 (Some good things which might have produced something but partly at fault for their opener and exposed down the centre at other times. People may question his fitness but I just don't see him as a disciplined holding midfielder. He's needed nearer the penalty area). n

Oakley 6.5 (Retained his urgency, tried to make openings but badly missed the covering and support of King and consequently tended to flit in and out of th action).

Gallagher 7 (Decent shift. Best game so far. Very constructive on the ball but using him wide means he's hardly likely to score and when he does deliver - either a shot or final pass - he doesn't seem to pack enough venom. He tends to flight his passes when sometimes they need to be driven in fast to unhinge defences).

Howard 5 (One crossfield pass that was intercepted and nearly led to a goal summed his day up really. Nothing quite went right. He never looked like scoring from occasional chances and seeemd laboured - like a bouncy toy that has lost its spring. His lack of pace seems an increasingly important factor this season. No goals from our matches played so far is poorby any standards and it's not as if he's been unlucky in hitting the woodwork or generally forcing great saves).

Fryatt 7.25 (In where it hurt from start to last and looked our only chance of a goal most of the time. I can't recall seeing him so sharp. Preston will consider it an achievement to have kept him out).

SUBS:

Dyer 4 (Had moments of promise but never delivered. Looks unconvincing whenever I see him these days. Strange although I'd rather see him right out wide than narrowing the play. Big defenders don't like to be stretched and I'm sure he would find the role more suited to his abilities.).

Waghorn 4 (Huffs, puffs and basically gets nowhere. I just don't see him as a first team striker and I'd love to hear the reasons why people in the City camp might think he is).

Kermogant 6.5 (Surprise package. I'd never seen him. Perhaps he's pinched Howard's spring. :D He certainly got off the floor when he jumped and might even have scored with a lucky deflection. Lucky or not he had some impact and caused some consternation. Hope he can maintain and improve on a promising debut).

Pearson 2 (You reap what you sew. Too many players have been discarded or partially discarded for others who have not represented an improvement, either individually or collectively. For the first time I saw an air of indifference in some of the players instead of the unity for the cause that was so apparent last season even when things were going wrong. I find it hard to believe we can play 4-3-3 effectively with journeyman full-backs and I still don't know who our second striker is cos there's no-one making any impression in the box apart from Fryatt. I could go on but I won't. Pearson is having his first major test as City's manager and I'll be interested to see how he responds).
