Ashley Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 Does all electrical equipment when brought come with a year guarantee free? My Xbox 360 has just got the three red lights of death, it's under a years old. Thanks.
Salieri Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 The urgency of your thread title is somewhat misleading. I thought your house was on fire, or you needed advice on how to administer CPR. Or summat. Thankfully all is well. Apart from your X Box of course.

AjcW Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 The Xbox has a three year warranty anyway doesnt it??

Yes its the law that you get 12 months manufacturers guarantee so dont do anything with it.... it will void that guarantee if youve altered it in anyway.
davieG Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 I think it would be highly unlikely it was less than a year. Even if it is you should be able to demonstrate that it was not of merchantable quality. Be careful what you do with it as you say could mess up the warranty just by opening it up.
Ashley Posted 30 September 2009 Author Posted 30 September 2009 Thankyou for the replies guys, I think i'll take the Xbox back into Game tomorrow and ask them what they can do for me however I carnt find the recipt. I wonder if Finners could help dosent he work or used to work in Game?
Nick Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 I think he was sacked from there for falsifying warranties for badly built games machines and sending the proceeds back over the border to feed the Welsh. If you pm Daggers, he is an X-box enthusiast and often can be found hanging around the Game store, he'd love to help. No seriously, just take it back to the store, if it's under warranty they'll likely wave the need for a receipt as they will get it fixed for free, anyway..... just get it there before the warranty runs out.
AmericanScott Posted 30 September 2009 Posted 30 September 2009 If you paid by card, just bring a statement in as proof of purchase. What Lou said was pretty much what i was going to post Read this It's interesting and it'll tell you your consumer rights.
Zingari Posted 1 October 2009 Posted 1 October 2009 I know the government has been running a campaign recently to try to stop needless 999 calls, and you have probably been influenced by that , but i think in this case you really should have contacted the emergency services .
Sly Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 Does all electrical equipment when brought come with a year guarantee free? My Xbox 360 has just got the three red lights of death, it's under a years old. Thanks. Under the sales of goods act your covered for a "reasonable amount of time". So even if it fails after the warranty expires you are still within your rights to demand a repair .... you could even push for a replacement. I had Argos replace a washing machine that was 4 years old when it broke down. I didn't have a receipt but had my bank statement to proce I'd purchased it from them. One of the perks of being a former law student, nothing this sort of semi useless stuff!!! Get a PS3 ..... I agree with this statement 100%!!

Fox92 Posted 2 October 2009 Posted 2 October 2009 Get a PS3 Agreed, I aint one of those people that says PS3 is better than XBOX, but come on, I agree with that comment... get a PS3!

You could just ring and ask them to provide you with a duplicate or an account statement. You could then produce it as evidence against the,. They can't with hold information so chances are you'll be able to twist their arm.
