BoneDog Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 I'm surprised you haven't asked for a few Prophets to come back to prove your YouTube theories mate. How about Jesus,Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and Moses for a Foxestalk cook off? I would love it They would all be friends of course as they all beleived in the same God. Jesus is coming back though (never died, it's some sci-fi out of this world dna shit which I won't talk about), probably in the next 20 years in my opinion! 95% of the real prophecies have happened. I think that this is why they are militarising space, because they think he will be coming in a 'UFO' and they think they can stop him (which they won't). waits for folk to call me mental P.S there is a little while to go yet before he comes back as Israel isn't the ruler of the world just yet. The U.S is, but they are on their last legs politically and I predict that within 10 years Israel will take over the U.S's rule. Wait and see people (they won't be good rulers though, they will make things even worse than they are now, which is pretty hard to do)
Lillehamring Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 You get instant legend status if you're a popular musician that dies early (this may not apply to Mr Gately, admittedly).I'm only thinking aloud here, but would we feel the same about these artists if they were still alive and had produced a load of shit since? Lennon is probably thankful that he carked it before putting out his Frog Chorus or Give My Regards to Broad Street. Jim Morrison was in a right state by the time he died, and if we'd had 35 years of a fat, washed up Jim churning out his bad poetry would he still be revered as he is now? I'm a big fan of Nick Drake, but nobody gave a toss about him while he was alive, and Jeff Buckley's dying will no doubt have been looked on as a masterstroke by his record company as well. It's not surprising really, is it? By dying young everyone remembers you in your prime, rather than seeing you get a bit old and shit wash your mouth out! Duncan Edwards and Tommy Taylor - killed in the Munich Air Disaster. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munich_air_disaster John Denver ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Denver) and Buddy Holly ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddy_Holly) also spring to mind. John Denver was 53, i think we got the best out of him...
Lillehamring Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Why has everyone said a celeb and not a friend or family member? a) because that's kind personal and b) because a list of people you've never heard of is not much of a read
Daggers Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Wanting the dead back to life is nothing short of fucked in the head, to be honest.

Fox92 Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 I thought Paul McCartney sang 'Yesterday'? Yes I posted that earlier, if you listen to the number one version on the number one album Lennon sang it but McCartney wrote it. On other albums, such as Rubber Soul I think, but don't quote me, McCartney did sing it but I think they took it in turns. If you watch a previous Beatles video such as them playing live, generally it will be McCartney singing it but yes, Lennon, did sing it a couple of times. I watched a Lennon interview and he said: "I was in a restaurant in Spain and a violinist(SP) came up to me and insisted on playing Yesterday right in my ear". "And then the violinist wanted me to sign it, so I signed it and Yoko signed it, but one day he is going to find out that Paul wrote yesterday".

Best winger in The World at only 21 I believe. Sad to think that all those players died.

Thracian Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 wash your mouth out!John Denver was 53, i think we got the best out of him... I wonder if you'll believe that at 53. In the music world especially, 53 is no age. What age was Tina Turner when she made her comeback? And what an awesome effort it was too.

Ultra Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Best winger in The World at only 21 I believe. Sad to think that all those players died. As far as I'm aware, Duncan Edwards wasn't a winger. But had he lived, England may have won the World Cup before 1966, and possibly even in 1970 as well.
Ultra Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Plenty of family and friends who would obviously qualify. But out of celebland, I'd choose the following: John Lennon Martin Luther King Che Guevara Bob Marley Sylvia Plath John Smith (ex Labour Party leader) Bill Hicks Richard Beckinsale River Phoenix Princess Diana
Jay Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Might be a crap thread but was thinking this morning whilst listening to one of my fave CD's. Is there any famous person/artist/celeb whos passing has genuinely GUTTED you, for whatever reason, be it personal or just you thought they were a great talent? Who would you bring back from the dead given half the chance? Mines a toss up between 2 and for personal reasons. First one is Joe Strummer. I was devastated when he died, it was like part of my youth had died with him! I cried like a baby and wish he was still with us. Just so many memories of when I was young they were and still are a band I listen to a great deal. I was lucky enough to meet him on more than one occasion and he was a lovely, lovely guy. I know hes not the greatest talent thats ever walked the earth and some people might wonder why Ive picked him but like I said its very much a personal thing. The second is John Peel. Another great man and someone who had a massive influence on my younger days and some of the music I used to listen to. A real champion of the un-known talents and I cant listen to Teenage Kicks without getting a massive lump in my throat as it reminds me of Peely! Used to listen to his shows a lot and miss them a great deal. I read his Autobiography a while back and ended up crying on a beach on the Isle Of Wight when it got to the part that his wife had to take over as hed died of a heart attack whilst in the middle of the book. Just a unique guy who could never be replaced. Who do you miss and would bring back if possible? Will settle for both of those Lou!! Strummer was a real inspiration, he changed the face of music so many bands oh so much to Strummers philosophy. As for Peel, no words can really explain how much my music collection/taste owes to John Peel for a man who didn't play or record music he was a real pioneer he championed so many bands, introduced them to the UK when nobody was bothered and watched them fly. I remember listening to his shows almost every weekend writing notes on tracks that I thought were great, I remember them printing the playlist on Ceefax I used to copy down all the songs that I liked before heading off to the local indie record store on the Monday to order the records! I don't think any DJ has ever or will ever have such a wide range in music I loved the way his shows had everything from hardcore dutch gabba, punk, indie, Drum & Bass, Reggae, Gospel and them some crazy random banjo thing but it was brilliant that sort of variety has never been matched by any other DJ. It's a real shame nobody has taken up the challenge of offering the same stuff but like Peel they would have probably been forced into a late night slot to accommodate Dance Anthems Peel was like Google, Myspace, Mojo, NME and MTV all in one brilliant man

Daggers Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Explanation here.. Exactly how dull is your life?
lou Posted 17 October 2009 Author Posted 17 October 2009 Why has everyone said a celeb and not a friend or family member? Probably because I asked specifically about celebs etc at the start of the thread. It goes without saying that we'd all bring back our own family members but I was interested in other peoples heroes/heroines and those who have truely inspired them such as the 2 people I posted about. Thanks for all the brilliant responses - Ive looked up a lot of them and learned a lot about some interesting people Id not heard of before.
Daggers Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Tyge Ottesen Brahe - did Johannes Keppler kill you? How did you lose your nose? Did you really have to sit and drink & dine until the King went for a piss? I'd love to spend some time walking and talking with my historical hero.
Pete_foxes Posted 19 October 2009 Posted 19 October 2009 You get instant legend status if you're a popular musician that dies early (this may not apply to Mr Gately, admittedly).I'm only thinking aloud here, but would we feel the same about these artists if they were still alive and had produced a load of shit since? It's not surprising really, is it? By dying young everyone remembers you in your prime, rather than seeing you get a bit old and shit The obvious answer to this is the fact is you don't have anything else to remember them by because by the very nature of dying young this often coincides with dying in your prime, unless your Macaulay Culkin who was past his prime at about 16.
BoneDog Posted 19 October 2009 Posted 19 October 2009 King of the Hill. But seriously, Dale Earnhardt The greatest cartoon of all time in my opinion. If you watch it from the 1st series and get to know the characters it is outstanding. Dale Gribble and Bill are me faves but all characters are brilliant. I've got all 13 series on dvd (I think you can only buy the first 5 series though, you have to get the rest on Utorrent or similar).
Uncle Albert Posted 19 October 2009 Posted 19 October 2009 He's the one that springs to mind straight away for me. Great talent and a great bloke. Paul Hunter probably would of become one of the greatest snooker players and easily had the same natural talent as Ronnie O'Sullivan. My Mum's partner had a picture with him in Amsterdam, he looks absolutely smashed. Owen Hart. Correct, now that was a tragic accident. Can remember watching it well clearly.
Zingari Posted 19 October 2009 Posted 19 October 2009 Abraham , Martin , and John ( and Marvin of course )
Mickey O'Neil Posted 19 October 2009 Posted 19 October 2009 Musician/artist-wise, Layne Staley so I could hear more of him! I love his voice. Everyday man/non-celeb, (& possibly an unpopular choice, but I don't care) Joe McDonnell.
Fosse Boy Posted 19 October 2009 Posted 19 October 2009 Yes, he was a wing half. Doesn't make him a winger per se, more of a wing back/defensive midfielder.
