lou Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Might be a crap thread but was thinking this morning whilst listening to one of my fave CD's. Is there any famous person/artist/celeb whos passing has genuinely GUTTED you, for whatever reason, be it personal or just you thought they were a great talent? Who would you bring back from the dead given half the chance? Mines a toss up between 2 and for personal reasons. First one is Joe Strummer. I was devastated when he died, it was like part of my youth had died with him! I cried like a baby and wish he was still with us. Just so many memories of when I was young they were and still are a band I listen to a great deal. I was lucky enough to meet him on more than one occasion and he was a lovely, lovely guy. I know hes not the greatest talent thats ever walked the earth and some people might wonder why Ive picked him but like I said its very much a personal thing. The second is John Peel. Another great man and someone who had a massive influence on my younger days and some of the music I used to listen to. A real champion of the un-known talents and I cant listen to Teenage Kicks without getting a massive lump in my throat as it reminds me of Peely! Used to listen to his shows a lot and miss them a great deal. I read his Autobiography a while back and ended up crying on a beach on the Isle Of Wight when it got to the part that his wife had to take over as hed died of a heart attack whilst in the middle of the book. Just a unique guy who could never be replaced. Who do you miss and would bring back if possible?
Fox92 Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Although I wasn't alive: John Lennon. He is one of my hero's and shouldn't have died. Also, before I was born, Freddie Mercury. Both Freddie and John were great songwriters. Something that doesn't happen alot nowadays. Be awesome if they were both still alive. Since I have been alive: Brain Clough. George Best. George Harrison. All 3 are legends. Quite sad when those died. George Harrison of course, very underrated, writing songs such as Here Comes The Sun, Something and Think For Yourself etc and Georgie Best and Brian Clough are just footballing legends. Apart from family, there are loads that I would bring back to life. Including the 5 above. John Lennon would be first though I think.
lou Posted 16 October 2009 Author Posted 16 October 2009 Michael Hutchence. For personal reasons. Oooo good shout! (For personal reasons! )

Jimothy Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Ayrton Senna For me the best F1 driver ever. At 34 gone way before his time.
Suffolk_fox Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 As soon as I saw this I thought John Lennon and Freddie Mercury.I was only 10 when Lennon died, and I didn't really know much of his music, apart from Imagine and the Beatles stuff my parents insisted on listening to. But later in my life, I have come to appreciate what a truly amazing songwriter he was, and the influences he has had on bands ever since. I was always a great fan of Queen and it is one of my biggest regrets that I never saw them live. I was at a party when I heard that Freddie Mercury had died, and I actually cried quite a bit. Again, he was a naturally gifted songwriter and one of the greatest entertainers of our age. I live just down the road from where John Peel lived!

Wycombe Fox Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Adolf Hitler so that I could ask "What the **** were you thinking?" Then I'd give him a shower.
Fox92 Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 I'll put it again, because he deserves it again. John Lennon. Although I am only 17, his music is incredible. He is the greatest singer-songwriter of all time, he formed the best group of all time and it really makes me feel quite sad when I listen to some of the music that he sings like Jealus Guy and Yesterday (alright, Yesterday was written by McCartney) and think of him. I just wish he was still alive now. Songs like I Feel Fine, Day Tripper and Come Together will remain forever. Ok, a lot were credited to Lennon/McCartney but John Lennon was a sensational songwriter. Inspiring people like Paul Weller, Freddie Mercury, Noel Gallagher and even the new Lady GaGa, just shows what impact he has had on the world of music. John Lennon was gone before his time, and shouldn't have. Ok, George Harrison died but that was a natural disease which can hardly be stopped, but to be shot at the age of 40 is horrid. It was his birthday last Friday and I did think about him, as I do when his music plays on my iPod. Amazing. Incredible. Hero. Legend.
Zingari Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Adolf Hitler so that I could ask "What the **** were you thinking?"Then I'd give him a shower. probably he is dead now , but maybe he didn't die before his time "A skull fragment believed for decades to be the Nazi leader's has turned out to be that of a woman under 40 after DNA analysis. Scientists and historians had long thought it to be conclusive proof that Hitler shot himself in the head after taking a cyanide pill on April 30, 1945 rather than face the ignominy of capture. Hitler committed suicide with Eva Braun as the Russians bombarded Berlin The piece of skull - complete with bullet hole - had been taken from outside the Fuhrer's bunker by the Russian Army and preserved by Soviet intelligence. Now the story of Hitler's death will have to rewritten as a mystery - and conspiracy theorists are likely to latch on to the possibility that he may not have died in the bunker at al did not die before his time http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?from=rss_Eu...25411924448H346 and maybe another crazy conspiracy theory is really conspiracy fact !
Uncle Albert Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 I love a good conspiracy. Marc Vivien-Foe.

We're all fooked now! He's gonna wreak his revenge on the world as a very angry 120 year old.
Pete_foxes Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Going on the musical theme and looking at the so called '27 club'. Most notably Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison of the Doors. Other musicians that I feel died before their time are Jeff Buckley who died at 30, Bob Marley was 36, Stevie Ray Vaughan was also 36 and also Buddy Holly who I think was 23 when he was killed in a plane crash! With actors I think Heath Ledger deserves a mention as well!!
maddog Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Jacko because it would have been better if he'd died after doing all those concerts or during one so he went out with a bang. Plus i had tickets for the opening night so wanted to see him in concert. Stephen Gately wasn't very old either.
Guest Posted 16 October 2009 Posted 16 October 2009 Jacko because it would have been better if he'd died after doing all those concerts or during one so he went out with a bang. Nice. Plus i had tickets for the opening night so wanted to see him in concert. Ah, the real reason.
