Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 I've got a sneaky suspicion Mcgivern will keep his place at left back with Berner at left midfield. We all know QPR's main threat is the wingers so width is essential which might see us with one striker up front with Gallagher playing in a 5 man midfield whilst advancing as cover for the lone striker. Thats not a bad shout actually. It's going to be very interesting to see how we contain their wingers.
flanimal Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 I'd rather start Campbell to Fryatt, I know a lot of people still hate him, but he is more dangerous as a striker. Althoughh it could be argued he is a good option as a sub when everyone is getting tired. He should still chase down more, and pressure defenders.
Koke Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 WealeNeilson - Hobbs - Brown - Berner N'Guessen - Oakley - Wellens - Dyer Waggy - Gally Simple. No square pegs. In form strikers, no target man, real wingers, real full backs. I agree with that. I think we need real wingers on the wings to protect our full backs a bit more. Oakley and Gallagher are not wingers and they tend to drift inside a lot, which leaves our full backs exposed - and against a free-scoring QPR side that's asking for trouble. And also Gallagher is our most creative outlet and we need to utilise him more. Play him up front as some sort of second striker. He is wasted on the wing. Weale Neilson - Hobbs - Brown - BernerN'Guessan - Wellens - King - DyerGallagherFryatt

I agree but maybe swap Fryatt for DJ or Howard ( both just as bad or good as each other really) and give him a rest as i think he has gone of the boil a little
blueoveru Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 -------------- Weale --------------Nielson -- Hobbs -- Brown -- McGivern --------------- King --------------- -- Oakley --------------- Wellens -- ------ Gallagher ---- Waghorn ------ ------------ Kermogrant ------------ Get rid of KING too slow........ goes missing in far to many matches, play Oakley in the central role, try Fryatt in for Oakley, put Gallagher as a leading striker with Waghorn and use Kermogant as a supplier to the front two
Fox92 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Get rid of KING too slow........ goes missing in far to many matches, play Oakley in the central role, try Fryatt in for Oakley, put Gallagher as a leading striker with Waghorn and use Kermogant as a supplier to the front two For the past few matches King has been great. He doesn't show it, but he tidies up midfield nicely. Oakley is in the cm role, that is not right midfield. And, Kermogrant is up front because his movement is the best we have out of all the strikers and he will move one of the central defenders out of position, letting Waghorn and Gallagher (or whoever it may be) to get into the QPR area and so on, just like at Coventry.

morris1234 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Nice... Though I would push N'Guessan and Waghorn slightly wide with Gallagher between then as the focus of the attack. Gallagher likes to drop off and pick up the ball played into feet, so N'Guessan and Waghorn need to get past him and stretch the defense both front to back and side to side. Also Gallagher is currently our most creative forward player, we need to get him on the ball as much as we can! Also, please. please no hoofball.... definately, i do think we need to start looking for him a bit more in games. He can really deliver quality in and around the box and when he gets the ball you know theres more chance he will do something with it rather than waste the oppourtunity and go backwards or just put the ball into the box regardless. He is creative, yet cautious which is good as his natural position is up front where you can afford to waste chances sometimes, especially when you have the athletic midfield that we do as he knows he will get more chances. However the fact hes been playing out wide or behind the front two shows he can be versatile and thorough in his work. Not seen a player like him in a leicester shirt in a while!

Edmund Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Thats not a bad shout actually. It's going to be very interesting to see how we contain their wingers. To be honest I'd rather have Berner back in place over McGivern but I can just see Nigel maybe pulling this formation off. After last nights performance I reckon we will be playing soley on the counter with a defensive outlook from the start.

He had to keep up with Jobi Mcanuff, with his skill & pace and he hardly had a sniff past Ryan. Him and Nielson were my MOTM's yesterday. Oh yeah, Oakleys Crap.

dypatel06 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Weale Neilson Brown Hobbs BERNER (McGivern couldn't handle it) Oakley King Wellens Gallagher Waghorn Fryatt Start with this, see how it works. But i think we need to give Gallagher a chance to play CF- his position, not left wing, although he's still better than Dyer there. Maybe give N'Guessan another chance on the wings.

Id agree with this... my QPR fan colleague says we need to use our wings as much as possible against them so Id like to see Nguessen given ago not a makeshift winger.
milan_foxes Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Weale - McGiven was our worst player Nahh mate, what did McGivern do wrong ?
lou Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Nahh mate, what did McGivern do wrong ? Well, mate. Poor positioning, no pace, hoofing it all night, losing possession and making McAnuff look like a world class player. He was our worst player.. fact. What did he do right?
