Houdini Logic Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 Because ppl who live in posh rural areas dont want their views ruined by 20,000 social houses on their back door steps Personally I dont care as I live off the Saff! I thought it may be for that reason - but why does every second house is Oadby have a flyer in their window? Some people need to find more important things to worry about
hairy Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 Because ppl who live in posh rural areas dont want their views ruined by 20,000 social houses on their back door steps Its not the type of housing its the development itself. The use of the word 'Eco' is very dubious too. Anyway the first battle is won so if it ever goes ahead nothing will start until 2020 and as its all going to end in Dec 2012 it doesn't matter now.

Well, not unless youre Madonna or someone
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 Exactly!! Ive used St Margarets at peak times and its not that busy... theres also the bus station on Charles St... no need for this nonsense.... 67 million could be far better spent then again this council dont give a toss what the public want anyway thats been proven already..... oh well I'll be expressing my disgust with my vote when the opportunity arises. Which is never completely full.... Waste of my cash.....
CosbehFox Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 But as one is run by Arriva, and the other First Leicester, I have to buy a day ticket (no return fares any more, and two singles works out more expensive) for each bus route, which is over £6. There's a new day ticket which does all of the companies. Because ppl who live in posh rural areas dont want their views ruined by 20,000 social houses on their back door steps Well no-one is objecting the new proposed site nearby B-Fleas.
maddog Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 I'm amazed that it's £3.60 for a day pass, yet well over £4 for town and back. The wankers will end up putting the day pass prices up a couple of quid soon i bet.
lou Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 Well no-one is objecting the new proposed site nearby B-Fleas. They wouldnt would they? Its not posh!
Guest Posted 19 November 2009 Posted 19 November 2009 There's a new day ticket which does all of the companies. I have a student season ticket, which you can only buy for the one bus company. On a similar note, weekly and monthly tickets are, as far as I know, limited to the one bus company.
CosbehFox Posted 20 November 2009 Posted 20 November 2009 They wouldnt would they? Its not posh! Nope, no rural life to spoil. I am not against Eco-towns at all if done tastefully ala Freiburg in Germany.

Edmund Posted 20 November 2009 Posted 20 November 2009 Because ppl who live in posh rural areas dont want their views ruined by 20,000 social houses on their back door steps I think it's more down to the fact that we will become further and further away from the countryside hence the reason why the majority of us moved here in the first place. That's just scratching the surface though and there hundreds of reasons which outweigh the proposals. Not to forget it could bring down the prices of our property

I guess its the same for most things..... not in my back yard but those who arent affected dont see what the fuss is about. I dont get the fuss about Wind Turbines though.... people campaign about them ruining the views etc but in reality if we dont come up with some alternative forms of energy none of us are going to have any kind of view in the long term

Also you say you live in the saff. I wouldn't be so confident that it wouldn't effect your area. Ok maybe not a direct impact but things like traffic towards Fosse Park will increase ten fold. The traffic down there is bad enough already imagine with the extra commuters not only traveling to Fosse park but to the motorways etc. On the subject of wind turbines it's a completely different ball game to an eco village. At least you can still preserve the countryside instead of bulldozing over a slab of land and filling it in with tarmac and concrete.

Trust me I dont intend to be here too much longer, technically were Aylestone (by 2 houses!) I know turbines are a lot different but they seem to attract a lot of "antis" protesting thats all. I like them - think theyre quite hypnotic.
