Edmund Posted 25 December 2009 Posted 25 December 2009 We both know neither Serbia nor Wales will win the World Cup in the foreseeable future. You could never speak more sense if you tried. Sorry Finners
Guest Posted 25 December 2009 Posted 25 December 2009 We crossed Spon Lane last night, and I thought of Radovan.
Finnegan Posted 25 December 2009 Posted 25 December 2009 I've never said Wales will win a world cup, I'm very much in the Big Nations = Success camp.
The Doctor Posted 25 December 2009 Posted 25 December 2009 This from a man whose army can't win a war with the Taliban! Hmm... can you guess whose meddling, spooky government took it away from us? Like all Ingermongs you take pride in being porcine - pig ignorant, thick as pigshit and, come next June, pig sick TBH that comes more from the fact that the british government considers moats to be of higher importance than working weapons for it's army.
Guest Bilo Posted 25 December 2009 Posted 25 December 2009 Yeah, but to me the equation Finners=RC doesn't match. Two very different styles of writing. Two different IP addresses, although RC's is near the Welsh region . I can but assume RC's a bit in his later years (Ultimate Keyboard Warrior and all). Also, I've seen Finners and RC online at the same time, and I doubt the former is that much addicted to FT he'd use two IT connections simultaneously. Plus the fact that Finners can actually construct a persuasive argument without having to resort to playground insults or the use of a thesaurus. The two couldn't be more different, I literally have no clue where this theory has come from.

MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Have we won the World Cup yet? In 210+ days you will have.
CosbehFox Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 This from a man whose army can't win a war with the Taliban! No-one's ever defeated the Taliban..foreigners have never invaded the country.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 26 December 2009 Author Posted 26 December 2009 No-one's ever defeated the Taliban..foreigners have never invaded the country. This on the 30th anniversay to the day that the former Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan? My God what are they teaching you in schools/colleges/universities today? Or were you snoozing AGAIN during double History?
CosbehFox Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Weren't they eventually ran out of the country though, RC? Not claiming superior knowledge just saying what I was led to believe.
Finnegan Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Weren't they eventually ran out of the country though, RC? Not claiming superior knowledge just saying what I was led tobelieve. Besides. The Taliban weren't the Taliban during the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan and in fact Osama Bin Laden (and other Allies of the Taliban / Future Taliban) fought against the Russians (potentially even with CIA funding thanks to the above man.) And is it technically an invasion if the ruling government request assistance?

The Taliban weren't the Taliban during the Soviet campaign in Afghanistan and in fact Osama Bin Laden (and other Allies of the Taliban / Future Taliban) fought against the Russians (potentially even with CIA funding thanks to the above man.) The Taliban is a BRITISH creation my friend. And remains a vital BRITISH asset. You'll have to work the rest out for yourself...
Finnegan Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 The Taliban is a BRITISH creation my friend. And remains a vital BRITISH asset. You'll have to work the rest out for yourself... Never said it wasn't or isn't (or that it was or is) and nor do I really plan to do much more "research" on the matter. I'm simply saying that whether or not the Soviets invaded Afghanistan is irrelevant in a debate about whether the Taliban have ever been "beaten" (given that the war pre-dated their existence) and I would guess that, as I implied, Cardiff Fox's claim that "foreigners have never invaded the country" was a quibble of semantics based on the fact that both the Soviets and NATO would claim that their deployment was in support of a legitimate native regime (the DRA / UIF respectively.)

You credit the dunderhead with too much. NATO members denounced the SU's intervention and condemned it as an act of aggression (but diplomatic statements are not necessarily a guide to intent). You forget also the disastrous British military campaign in Afghainistan over a century and a half ago were their losses were a 100 time + current losses (in 1/10th of the time). Most significantly of all you did not stop to pause and reflect upon my 'outrageous' assertion in my last post. Cogito ergo sum, chum.
Finnegan Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 I didn't pause to reflect on anything in your last post, to be really honest. It screamed "I'M OBSESSED WITH CONSPIRACY THEORIES" regardless of any potential truth. And there's no need to make personal attacks on Cardiff Fox. He's demonstrated time and again on this forum a fair level of intelligence and eloquence and happily confessed his own potential for ignorance on the subject.
Daggers Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 Must admit - this thread is a real 'tour de force' for Chandler. This is almost like reading vintage Bartonfox, a virtuoso barrage of invective at ignorance. Have to admit: I'm a fan.
MC Prussian Posted 26 December 2009 Posted 26 December 2009 I'm baffled to find out what development this thread has gone through. First Chandler/RC starts slagging off England/the English national team once more, then he takes a turn for the worse by introducing some far-fetched theories about the war in Afghanistan. I don't know, but Chandler/RC - are you really that desperate to divert from the original topic, seeing that you seem to have lost an argument for once?

And exactly what argument is it that I have lost? I think that you'll find it's that veteran Real Madrid striker who is responsible for this current tangent. And apologies to Cardiff Fox - 'dunderhead' is an inappropriate insult for your festive season (our Xmas is on Jan 7th) I'll save 'em up for Lent,,,
Daggers Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 But he's taking the piss out of the Ungurlish brilliantly. Bravo!
Finnegan Posted 27 December 2009 Posted 27 December 2009 [/b]And apologies to Cardiff Fox - 'dunderhead' is an inappropriate insult for your festive season (our Xmas is on Jan 7th) I'm pretty sure the Edinburgh Christmas is still December the 25th.
Radovan's Caravan Posted 27 December 2009 Author Posted 27 December 2009 I'm pretty sure the Edinburgh Christmas is still December the 25th. Kirk going Calvinists don't do Xmas (or so I am told). Not like you chirpy chaPELites...
