iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Is Leicester and surrounding towns in Leicestershire rough compared to others around the country? My mates seem to think it is ..
Jimothy Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 He's obviously not spent time in the parts of Leeds I've had the "pleasure" of visiting.
Guest Bilo Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Leicester is average really. Nothing particularly terrible, nothing particularly brilliant. London, Leeds, Hull, Nottingham, Manchester, Middlesbrough and many others have far worse records for crime. Though as I say, Leicester is far from perfect. Just average in terms of crime rates for a big city. In terms of prettiness, Leicester itself is a mediocre city but improving and parts of the county are very scenic. Seems your mates are pulling your chain.
AoWW Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Is Leicester and surrounding towns in Leicestershire rough compared to others around the country? My mates seem to think it is .. Er, in a word... no. Sure there's not-so-nice parts of Leicester, but in comparison to some other places it's fine. Much of the rest of Leicestershire is really very pleasant.
z-layrex Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 I have to admit, coming from the South-East (Surrey/West Sussex/Brighton), when I've travelled up to Leicester and the places around it everything is generally a bit more run-down. Coalville was the worst place, it's like going back in time 20 years.
Lillehamring Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 no, it's just dreadfully, wearily average...
Tommeh Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 no, it's just dreadfully, wearily average... Well that was predictable.
Unit Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Only problem with Leicester is the dickhead that comes up to you in town and asks for 83p to get a bus to south wigston/braunstone/your mums house/fook offville/somewhere and you say no and he gets raging so you have to act rough as fook as in you're going to beat him down then he ****s off. ****.

Coalville was the worst place, it's like going back in time 20 years. Nothing wrong with Coalville
Fosse Boy Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Nothing wrong with Coalville Anywhere that close to Snibston Discovery Park has to be an absolute winner of a town. With regards to Leicestershire, I'd avoid Little Bowden aka "The Bermondsey of Harborough".
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Leicester = shit. Leicestershire = meh. Coalville on the other hand = suicidal.
Maybes Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Leicester is alright. Certainly worse towns/cities in the country.

Much of the rest of Leicestershire is really very pleasant. Spot on. The countryside parts of Leicestershire are top, and as has been pointed out some of the city centre's improving. People saying Leicester's rough as fook wanna come down London and check out some of the dodgy areas.
Daggers Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Anyone bitching about Leicester: Birmingham FTW.
Jimothy Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Avoid Syston.Scares me that place. Really? Worst thing about Syston is driving through it, with all those parked cars it's tighter than a nuns.........
Unit Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Avoid Syston.Scares me that place. Yeah, can't help but walk through there and shit myself..... ..... ....?
CosbehFox Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 I have to admit, coming from the South-East (Surrey/West Sussex/Brighton), when I've travelled up to Leicester and the places around it everything is generally a bit more run-down. Coalville was the worst place, it's like going back in time 20 years. Coalville's like any place where the mining left it's mark. As everyone's said, Leicester is mediocre. I have to go Cov every week and that's a rather more high percentage dump. What does not help Leicester is all the roads leading into the centre are either becoming desolate or ran-down.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Avoid Syston.Scares me that place. Me too mate. It's such a dump. Full of 12 year old Wreake Valley chav's and tarts. Thurmastons alright, Where I'm from (Rearsby) is alright, quiet village where the worst thing that happens is when grit bins get turned over by kids.
Lillehamring Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Well that was predictable. just like leicester... i don't know, i'm pilloried for faulting it, and now picked up for being on the fence... fuck it, leicester is the most beautiful perfect city on earth, it is heaven on earth; it is the finest, most cultured, cleanest, paradise man has ever created, it has every shop and every attraction a sane man could wish for - i am a dumb gay twat for ever dreaming to have left it.

Even more predictable.
Edmund Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Looks like this is heading down the same route as the snow thread.

Guest Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Great, another thread discussing the merits, or lack of, of our fair city and county. If anyone wants my views, they can use the search function....
