Koke Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Wenger has a right to moan. And he was actually pretty dignified in his response. He did not call out on Shawcross' character or anything. He said it was unacceptable, which it was. He was angry and rightly so. He might have been a delusional cunt on many occasions in the past, but on this one occasion he is in the right. If people expected Wenger to give a robust generic emotionless post-match interview, then they are living in la la land. He did not accuse Ryan Shawcross of anything. He did not accuse Stoke City of anything. But poor Ryan, oh poor lad, cry me a fucking river. Nobody is vilifying him, so let's stop pretending he's the victim cos he shed a few tears. Most Arsenal fans I spoke to have acknowledged that it was a freak unlucky accident, cos Ramsey was too quick for him. As for Sol, many of you have obviously never had a team-mate and a friend get a serious injury on a pitch and see his leg shattered in pieces. It's a horrendous experience. A wave of emotions went through Sol and the Arsenal lads, so pipe down with your judgemental shite. Unlucky challenge, hope the lad makes a quick recovery.

I'm suprised he saw the incident actually .... he didn't even see Gallas' against Bolton.

pooleyLCFC Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 At the end of the day Shawcross gets an England call up and Ramseys left in a hospital bed but the emphasis by the press is to make sure everyone knows about Shawcross
Fox You Forest Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 Why do I get a sense of deja vu? You know who?
dandannieldanok Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 Shawcross tackle on Adebayor What a saint this guy is.
StanSP Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 Shawcross tackle on AdebayorWhat a saint this guy is. Was chatting to a Stoke fan about this. He said that minutes before Adebayor had committed an equally bad foul on a Stoke player (maybe Shawcross).
lildave3 Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 Shawcross tackle on AdebayorWhat a saint this guy is. Got the ball! Wouldn't hurt a fly. Be quiet.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 March 2010 Posted 3 March 2010 Sorry to break my self imposed vow of silence but your refusal to see the point that I am making is gross provocation.Campbell reacted in the way that he did because he was traumatised by the injury Ramsey suffered (how many severed limbs have you ever seen pal?). His reaction was a loyal and honourable one and Shawcross could have had no complaints if he had decked him (tears of remorse or no tears of remorse). As for Shawcross eyes being on the ball that means sweet fcuk all. Players who go up with the elbows often look completely the other way. Either way its never on the man and that's a giveaway. Then there's the facial expression. Does it betray exertion/determination or is it calm/impassive/eerily composed? If it's the latter that's unnatural and another indication that a player is masking his intentions. And let's be quite clear what this disguised intention is - to take the man out. What you are struggling to grasp is the difference between straightforward old fashioned clogging where a player fouls openly and is prepared to take his chances with the ref (you appear to describe yourself as being in this category) and the new and more sinister culture of violent play where intent is disguised and any consequential injury is assumed to be accidental. The net result is that the offender often stays on to commit more serious fouls and cause more serious injury than your average cloggie. Read the last para above again at least three times if you intend to reply. However, my feeling that the penny will drop maybe sadly misplaced. I think you're giving the intelligence of footballers more credit than they deserve.

Jimothy Posted 6 March 2010 Posted 6 March 2010 http://arsenal.theoffside.com/team-news/ac...g+-+Global+Feed He makes good points. The bit about driving is very true. 99% of the tackles that cause these injuries aren't malicious, but they are still dangerous. Looking at his track record I certainly wouldn't want to play football against Shawcross.
sdb Posted 6 March 2010 Posted 6 March 2010 Viera never put in tackles like that when he was at Arsenal did he? Let alone Keown, Adams et al. It was a heavy tackle/foul but no more. We'll see 2 or 3 clashes like that today that wont end in a horrific looking injury and therefore will never be talked about again. Wenger's a legend but his paranoia is embarassing. And Sol Campbell (althoigh already obvious) is a complete ****.
