as someone who has irish grandparents but doesn't ever celebrate st paddy's, as i was born in england and am therefore English. i can't help but want to punch all the plastic paddy's i see..particularly in london or even worse america (these are easily the worst). i get that it is an excuse for a piss up but the stupid hats, green face paint and beards make me a very sad panda.

If you want to get pissed, just go out and get pissed. There is no need to pretend to be Irish, dress up like a retarded leprechaun and drink Guiness when you don't even like it.

I know that's no excuse to "pretend we're all Irish" and no I certainly don't need any excuse to have a piss up but still I'll be enjoying a few Guinness' and enjoying St Patrick's Day.

P.S - I love a pint of Guinness, drink it throughout the year anyway. (And I don't dress up, I don't go that far)

Don't get me started...

Most of my so called "100% pure hardcore Irish" friends thought Ireland was part of England or vice versa.

And that fvcking parade every year >_<

the good things about Paddy's day are getting the day off, watching the club finals/ playing in a charity 7 a side and getting pissed

Maybe in the City's? Dunno.

Certainly no-where round me does, I'll admit to celebrate St Georges Day is becoming more popular year by year still not got as much or anywhere near as much festivities about it as St Patrick's Day.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's all about making money, so if some numpty wearing a stupid hat wants to waste money on a stout they wouldn't touch any other time of the year, leave them to it.

st patricks day is actually my sons birthday.

ok, he`s only four at the minute, but with irish relatives in einniskillen, he`s going to have some top birthdays when he`s older.

Molly's have a live band on St. Pats (someone I work with). Guinness is expensive in there though.

St. Pats is pretty good now in Leicester.
