maddog Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Part of me doesn't care what the result is here now still being on a high after the Forest win, a loss here and i wouldn't be that bothered. The other part knows that a win here will put us 1 step closer to guaranteeing that playoff place with a few games to spare come the end of the season, and keep our hope for the automatic spot. It would be nice to relax and enjoy the last few games knowing we were already in the playoffs, already out of the automatic race and get ourselves ready for those playoff matches. We could rest some first teamers then if need be, and certainly not just throw Fryatt back in the side because i have a feeling he may or may not get the goals that gets us to the playoff final and beyond. Alan Irvine briefly turned Wednesday around, but now they have slipped back into the relegation zone, they've lost 3 games in row without scoring, including 2 home defeats to fairly weak sides in Donny and Ipswich, and a 5-0 drubbing at relegation rivals Reading at the weekend. So like a lot of teams in this division we seem to have played, these are there for the taking. Back in the Championship last time out it always seemed we were playing the sides in great form all the time, with us doing so well it seems like we are playing a side on awful form every week. Nottingham Forest play Swansea on Saturday so if we can win again we will catch one or both of those sides up in 3rd and 4th, and West Brom are still within reach in 2nd only 9 points ahead of us. They travel away to QPR which could be tough with Neil Warnock now in charge, but follow that with 2 easier home games against Blackpool and Wednesday. So much could depend on our home game against Cardiff so to go into that after a positive result could help us, a win over Cardiff will seal a top seven place at least. Should the Blades hit a bad patch it's playoff place in the bag. I can't see us losing but can't see us winning another game so i think it will be a 1-1 draw which would be good enough :locked:
dandannieldanok Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Win, these are a poor team that had a lucky new-manager sequence of results before now returning to what their true level is; relegation fodder. We're easily good enough to win this, don't think playing away from home will have any bearing. 2-0 win.
Guest Bilo Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Looked like a side recovering under Alan Irvine for a while but it now looks as though they're struggling again, and our respective results at the weekend are unlikely to inspire much confidence at Hillsborough. They were dreadful at the Walkers and I'd question how far forward they've come since then with recent results. It won't be easy as they'll look to recover from their 5-0 drubbing last week, and someone will eventually cop a backlash, but I can't help thinking we're about to embark on a good run after the Forest result. We should have too much for them with the way we're playing right now, and a win with some of our play-off rivals playing one another would come in very handy. 2-1 with goals from Gallagher and Dyer is my prediction as the unbeaten run is stretched further.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 We need to start winning these games. We're playing them at the best time. 4-1 win. Waghorn, Gallagher, Hobbs, Oakley
lcfcadam Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 We're easily good enough to beat them comfortably, but as someone mentioned before the way the Championship is panning out this season always seems to be: out-of-form team meets in-form team and the former keeps winning... EDIT: Clearly hope that's not the case this time though!
lcfc_jme Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Seeing as we always, always seem to play abysmal against really shit teams (which these are, by all accounts), I'll say 1-1 with us hanging on for dear life in the last minute.
StanSP Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Narrow win. Can't see us dominating unless we get an early goal and start as bright as we did against Forest. But they'll have something to prove to their home fans after the drubbing they got against Reading. 1-0 N'Guessan on scoresheet.
ScouseFox Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Think we'll win this, early goal should turn the crowd against them after there annihilation at Reading, and we'll go on to win it. 0-2, Waghorn and Dyer.
Joe. Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I'm quite confident we'll come away with all three points here. But just quietly, I haven't actually seen us win away at all this season yet...
lcfc_jme Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 I'm quite confident we'll come away with all three points here. But just quietly, I haven't actually seen us win away at all this season yet... My Saturday aways read: Scunny: 1-1 Forest: 1-5 Cardiff: p-p Swansea: 1-0 With no good performance in sight and my away wins coming during midweek games, I do not hold out much hope here of picking up my first Saturday 3pm away win of the season.

Me neither. My away record this season reads: Watford D3-3 Coventry D1-1 Scunny D1-1 Forest L1-5 Plymouth D1-1 Hmmmm, may have to rethink my optimism with that record.

Don't get me wrong, I've seen us win away at Middlesborough and QPR, but they're not Saturdays . I fear I regret going to a few of our Saturday awayers for the remainder of the season.

I fear I regret going to a few of our Saturday awayers for the remainder of the season. One thing that bodes well for Palace however is the fact that my last away win was Walsall. On a Tuesday night. Which was epic. So if the Wednesday game ends in ANOTHER draw, I can be optimistic for Selhurst Park.
tartanowl Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 We are a poor side but I don't think we'll go down. Laws has left Irvine with a nigh on impossible job but so far Irvine has done pretty well. The last 3 games we have been worse than dreadful but I'm confident we'll turn the corner again. Thankfully we should have Jermaine Johnson back on Saturday which will be a big boost. We've really missed him the last few games. He is without doubt our best attacking player. I think we'll get a point which even still isn't enough. 1-1 for me.
Corky Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 Hope to see my first away win of the season (though I did have a ticket for Doncaster). Will be tough, 1-0 victory.

milan_foxes Posted 2 March 2010 Posted 2 March 2010 As maddog said, I wouldnt be to bothered about this result, BUT. I think because there's like Swans V Forest & Cardiff V M'boro? then I think its vital we get the 3 points to gain points on the teams around us.
