I'm working until 12 so unlikely to be in west brom until 2pm (depending on the trains).

And I just got the all-clear.

Throw a sickie.

Or he could just book a half day off.

Or make his own way over to meet people 2hours in front on drinking.

Controversial, but had already crossed my mind....

hopefully getting some tickets for this on friday

Will these make general? How many more tickets will we get when the first 1,500 go?

Posted

Goes up to 3000. Make it to general no dramas I reckon. Rail strike could be a fvcker though.

What are the chances of it affecting us? I might change my plans if the trains are going to be a nightmare.

Leicester to New Street - walk to Birmingham Snow Hill - then train to Hawthorns...assume thats the only way people can go, not great with trains me. £8.65 return isn't bad.

The union is meeting on Thursday to decide whether to go ahead with the strike. The papers were making out like there wouldn't be a single train on the tracks if it does happen, they might manage to run it at a reduced service though.

There should be a thread dedicated to trains. I use crappy fox travel because I don't know and can't be arsed to find out about train routes times etc

That's such a poor excuse.

The website to use is http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/? and you're traveling from Leicester to The Hawthorns.

Trains from Leicester to Birmingham run at 16 and 49 minutes past every hour on Friday 2nd April 2010 and an Adult Return ticket is £10.00. It's important to note that the last train back to Leicester from the Hawthorns is 21.47.

See, that information took me 5 minutes to find out. It's really not that hard

Firstly cheers mate. I meant not just for this game but for all there should be a trains thread. It's really not that hard Ino and im not going to deny I am lazy.

The closest railway stations are The Hawthorns which is about five minutes walk from the ground and Smethwick Rolfe Street, which is about a 15 minute walk from the ground. The Hawthorns is served by a Metro service from Birmingham Snow Hill station, whilst Smethwick Rolfe Street is served by local trains from Birmingham New Street. The Metro service takes eight minutes to the Hawthorns from Birmingham Snow Hill and trains run every 15 minutes. Please note though that train tickets are not valid on the Metro and that you have to buy a separate ticket for it (ask for a £2 matchday special adult return). Birmingham Snow Hill station is signposted from Birmingham New Street and is around a 10 minute walk away. C Price adds; 'On Halford Lane just below the train/metro stop is a chip shop called the Hawthrones (which yes is spelt incorrectly). Fish and chips cost under £2 and are of good quality and it also serves pies and kebabs'.

No problem

It's relatively easy to plan a journey if you know where to look. The Football Ground Guide is pretty handy when planning a journey and can offer a few tips on reaching your destination both quickly and with relatively little fuss, it's your new friend  For planning your train journey, use the link for the Trainline I used in my above post.

Always had nuneatonfox down as a religious nutcase. No idea why...

Hoping I get the green light from work for this, heard rumours that I may be doing it alone though. <_<

So glad this is a 5.15 k.o.

Means I've got time to watch the usual Good Friday re-enactment in town and then make my way to the Hawthorns.

If it's not like the ones they do in Spain where they're all in cloaks and shit, and there are no hot cross buns on offer, then it's probably not worth it.
