Howard to Huddersfield - Possibly

disagree.

I think sending him out on loan or a month would get him match fit and match sharp - it might be important to get him some games in case we get some injuries last month of the season and also for play offs -

we could always have a 24 hour recall aswell.

Considering where he was when we signed him, he is probably one of our top earners too and so it wouldnt hurt to have someone else pay part of his wages too for a bit.

Prefer Yann coming off the bench as the target man anyway...

Why?? He is yet to score or do anything to enamour me towards him....

When Howard comes on you feel like he could score us a goal. When Kermorgant comes on, it aint gunna happen.

Disagree. It's often been a problem that when Howard comes on, we just begin lumping it forward with little effect and the ball comes straight back at the defence. Kermorgant is a bit like Gallagher, in that he's not a true striker...problem is these sort of players are more part of the game on the continent, here it's all about 'shape', 'tuck in', 'safety first'.

Bar the odd away game, I don't think Yann's ever came on at home when we needed a goal. Against Swansea in the cup though, he produced a magic assist and then the header at Bristol City to put Dyer in.

You may be right about Yann or he may just be the most over rated player since Kaebi!! Mmmm I wonder what the similarity between the two are? Oh yes that's right - A Youtube video making them look world class for all of 2 minutes. Seriously, If you hadn't seen that video before hand and judged him on performance only I don't think anybody can argue he is poor and certainly should not be preferred to Howard.

Hope it happens.

I don't know how much longer I can stand Howard coming on, us hoofing it upfield, winning a freekick, then finding out bizarrely it's been given AGAINST Steve. I really don't see what he has to offer to the club anymore, but saying that I can't see Pearson getting rid at such a vital time. I've a lot of faith in Kermo too, every time I've seen him come on I've seen him do the 'Howard job' but to so much more effect. The move could work for us.

He makes it easier on us in the final 10 minutes when he comes on, yeah we hoof it but when you're under pressure it's nice to have someone who can bring it down and hold it up. Keep him here.

And it saddens me that in less than 1 season people have written him off, he helped get us back in the Championship, should be given a bit more respect imo.

 Please, just no.

I feel a bit like Kathy Bates in Misery - just need some way of forcibly keeping him at Leicester forever...

You are talking nonsense IMO. I suspect you may one of the folk who stood next to me at Hillsborough and called him a frog for twenty minutes.

You clearly haven't seen him enough because as I said he's set up a couple of goals (in important situations) and his starting performances (bar two or three admittedly) have been ok. Kaebi clearly wasn't cut out for the English division - who knows the same could be said of Yann but he at least possess excellent technique and athletic physique.

Problem is Howard hasn't done that job of holding up....against Newcastle he came on for that exact job and looked off pace. Chasing the game against Wednesday, he hardly won a header and fouled everyone in sight. He wasn't much better on Saturday.

As for Football, respect is a daft word used in this regard, possibly even naive. A team evolves....that's been evident as the season has gone on - 442 to 433, Morrison taking over RB for example. Oakley's slowly been phased out of the team as the season has progressed due to legs. I was one of Howard's biggest defenders but this season, he's looked off pace and gone into that past it mode of fouling everyone in sight. His time has gone in this division for me but he'd do a job for any L1/L2 sides who did a big man to take the hits for their younger lads.

My view is that we tend to lose control of the game when he comes on in those last ten minutes and he loses as many as he wins and is not that good at 'holding' the ball up. He's also prone to give away more free kicks than he wins.

All in all I dread him coming on.

I haven't noticed to much disrespect - indifference maybe. As for respect he plays for us because we pay him, he's no more loyal to us than any other here today gone tomorrow modern footballer.

I'm happy at the contribution he's made but he's been well paid for it, I'll respect him to the same degree I respect anyone else in any other job provided that he's earn't it.

I can't see that he provided much in this League, he was party to that appalling excuse for a team that took us down and has contributed very little this season - all he's proved is that he's been a competent League 1 player for LCFC.

So what you are saying is you suspect me of being a racist because I think he is crap? :crylaugh:

2 Assists then and 0 goals - I stand corrected. You are right. He is brilliant. Well worth a 3 year contract.....

Howard's record for us in the Championship is hardly impressive.

2007/8 - 21(1) 6 goals

2009/10 - 15(15) 2 goals

I think it's important to clear him out now, so that he settles in at another club as soon as possible. We need him off the wage bill if we are to be able to afford Waghorn (if we get the opportunity to sign him). So the sooner the better in my mind. He can't be here next season anyway, it would be a right waste of fundage for us, and a waste of a waning opportunity to play a full part in a campaign for him.

You are correct. Not great at all yet still better than Kermorgant.

He was a very important part of our team last year but just can't seem to cut it in the championship. This could be due to his age but i think a move to league 1 would be good for him as it is about his level and he still has the ability to score goals in that league.

I'd rather sell him.

How much money would you think we would get for him at his age? I wouldn't have thought anyone would offer money for him as well as pay him the wages he would want personally.

No doubt in my mind that Yann is the better option, it's easy to forget the lads in a new country had no pre season and limited game time and has played in several positions when on, It's easy to just throw his scoring record out there but it's not that straight forward is it.

How much do you think he is going to improve then at the age of 28? New Country etc is just a smokescreen for the fact he just is not good enough. What do you think he was expecting when going to a new country anyway?

8 (11) 0 Goals

By the smallest fraction yes thumbsup.gif But take into account their relevant experience in this league and in English football and their relative costs then Howard's is much worse.

Kermorgant at least has some potential to improve, Howard is only going to get worse and we've still got a year of high wages to cover.

Kermorgant has been playing as an attacking midfielder, with defensive duties, hence you see heim tracking back, and defending deep. He is younger than Howard, better in the air, greater mobility, greater skill, works harder for the team. Howard to be fair to him does hold the ball up really well.

Posted

It's as simple as this - Howard has done his job at this club, now he's past his best and it's time for him to move on to a club that needs him - we don't anymore. We have players that are far more mobile than him, and I personally hate seeing the ball being "pumped up to the big man". We look a totally different side with two mobile and agile strikers - there's no temptation to heave the ball up.
