grth2004 Posted 20 March 2010 Posted 20 March 2010 ive seen a thread on i phone apps but i have my new phone - htc hero - arriving on tuesday which runs android apps and was wondering if anybody else uses them and which are the best ones?
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 You'll need dgAlert Classic to set custom message tones. Ebuddy is your instant messaging client, Twidroid for Twitter, Facebook has an official app. Buzzdeck collates news from various sources. Beebplayer is an unofficial iPlayer app, but live radio doesn't work right now. http://uk.androlib.com is the place to go to check for apps, you can download Barcode Reader onto the phone to use the camera to scan the barcodes on Androlib to quickly get the app from Market.
Daggers Posted 21 March 2010 Posted 21 March 2010 That's quite a leap in provision - are any of them any good?

Guest Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 the one thing i am worried about now is the deal comes with 500mb cap on internet , it was a good deal (£21 a month) but am i likely to go over that ?? What I would say is that my 3GS on Orange has a technical limit of 750MB per month, although it's more of a guideline to make sure you're not using it for tethering really. I find that I don't get anywhere near that limit and that includes browsing, email etc. pretty much constantly
Darkzzz_ Posted 23 March 2010 Posted 23 March 2010 I use both android and apple and they are both brilliant, obviously the app store on itunes can't be matched but there are certain things the HTC Hero does that edges the iPhone in my opinion. Regardless, I am a fan of both and to answer your question here are some apps to download for Android: Dictionary.com Urban Dictionary Seesmic (Twitter) Twidroid (Twitter) Photoshop Mobile RAC Traffic Google Listen Beeb Player Flixster Movies Compass XE Currency Paypal ShopSavvy Scanner Cardio Trainer (This is a brilliant app) Soccer Livescores Netcounter Shazam Astro File Manager London Tube Gmote Weather Bug
