lcfcsam Posted 3 April 2010 Posted 3 April 2010 Jay Spearing believes some glowing words from Steven Gerrard can help him play a significant role in realising Leicester City's Barclays Premier League dream.The Reds midfielder, currently on loan with the Foxes until the end of the season, is determined to make an impact at the Walkers Stadium and reckons he can do just that, by following the skipper's example. "I think he is the best midfielder in the world at the moment, and I think he has been for the past few years," said Spearing. "I don't need anyone else to learn from. For the defensive side of the game I look at Javier Mascherano but, from the attacking side and his all-round game, I look to Stevie G. "I spoke to him a couple of days ago. He texted me to see how it was going and he told me to enjoy myself and just show people what I am made of at Leicester. It doesn't sink in at first but then you realise it is actually him on the phone. "Since the first moment I went down to Melwood he has looked after me. He gives me advice and suggests areas I need to look at, and what I need to work on in games. He has been great from the off and so has Jamie Carragher, he has been a massive help as well. "They are both Scouse lads and they see me and want Scouse lads to come through. "If they think we could do things better they would inform us. Who better to listen to than them?" While Spearing harbours hopes of returning to Anfield to play a more active role in Rafael Benitez's team next season, he admits he would love to cap his time at Leicester with a Wembley swansong. "It would be wonderful to have play-off winners on my CV and I think we are capable of it," he added. "We have a great young side here with plenty of willingness and desire." He hasn't done that much to change our season IMO so far. Hopefully this will inspire him.

He has not even started a game and you are having a go at the lad. I thought he looked sharp and fast what I have seen so far. I suppose oakley has never given the ball away? white_y Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 well as matt Oakley is terrible we should give the lad a chance to shine and he may turn out to be like Jackie Hobbs in midfield as he is from Liverpool . and we has got nothing to lose because Oakley is just a good league 1 player.
