BrummieFOX Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Had a (very) little glance through the music forum and couldn't see much on this genre. With so much talent in the UK at the moment, I'm checking new albums overseas less and less, with a couple of exceptions (Wu-tang releases, DOOM, Madlib and a few others). I'll keep it short, post the best... Jehst is a lyrical machine and I love his beat selection, always chilled but a head nodder at the same time. I believe this is a fan made video but it's brilliant - the track is too funky as well, Dynamite MC shines on Nextmen releases.I'm looking for some new UK talent to check....BUILD!
Guest NGoloMode Posted 29 April 2010 Posted 29 April 2010 Ohh.. I'm a huge hip hop fan. My favourite underground UK rapper is probably Skinny Man http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycAQdLh8GNk Best mainstream artist has to be Kano though. If you really like UK rap then you have to download his latest mixtape. Download Link Here.
BrummieFOX Posted 30 April 2010 Author Posted 30 April 2010 Cheers for the Kano mixtape link, StyleZ! Will give it a listen later. Wasn't impressed with Kano's, London Town album but he seems to be back on from. Yea Council Estate of Mind is a classic, still gets played. You heard much of Foreign Beggars?? If not, check them out, the above is a good start. Amazing Live show as well, they're constantly touring!
Tony Pine Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 ..seen skinnyman a couple of times. Klashnekoff is probably my favourite uk rapper and Terra Firma as a group were sick http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqYSKaYlysw also braintax http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VS36zW2Zgs&feature=related
Samilktray Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Never been into Skinnyman, always found him a bit boring. Klashnekoff is gully though, hes recording a new album at the minute I think. Giggs is someone I've been championing alot this year and last year, I dont think he'd be classed as grime, and I find all of his music really raw and gritty. Alot of talent in the UK scene, just a shame theres no real platform for it to gain a bit more coverage and recognition.
BoneDog Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Some good shouts already. Love a bit of Rodney P. First time I heard of him was just before Gangster Chronicle came out and that was one of my favourite albums EVER BABY!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoaqNYur8ts
purpleronnie Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Read very positive reviews about Akala, haven't checked him out yet.
BoneDog Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 Had a fair few sessions listenin to Pitman! What I'm not...is a bloke that gets cheap beans...5p from Aldi...**** that
Daggers Posted 30 April 2010 Posted 30 April 2010 I believe this is a fan made video but it's brilliant - the track is too funky as well, Dynamite MC shines on Nextmen releases. The track is very reminiscent of Oui3 - but I'm blown away by the video...someone really knows their film scenes. Top notch.

It seems that no one can break through without drastically changing their style of music.....all grime artists turn to club beats with a female singing the chorus. Underground beats and real lyrics just don't sell, it's a shame! The track is very reminiscent of Oui3 - but I'm blown away by the video...someone really knows their film scenes. Top notch. Brilliant isn't it!! Love the track too though.

BrummieFOX Posted 1 May 2010 Author Posted 1 May 2010 Agree. Overrated. Only one king of grime! StyleZ, Kano is headlining a small street festival in Birmingham in June, will send a link later.
Samilktray Posted 1 May 2010 Posted 1 May 2010 Kano is poor these days, tries too hard to be Jay-Z and not the good side of Jay-Z, hasnt done anything of note since his mixtape before London Town.
Fosse Boy Posted 2 May 2010 Posted 2 May 2010 Read very positive reviews about Akala, haven't checked him out yet. Not really my scene but I'm a big fan of him.
BrummieFOX Posted 27 May 2010 Author Posted 27 May 2010 Anyone heard Damian and NaS' album, Distant Relatives? Some really good tracks on there. NaS drops some great lyrics and Damian Marley's sounding dope!!
James. Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Not necessarily hip hop but people looking in this thread will appreciate this. You've probably heard of Beardyman but Nathan "Flutebox" Lee had slipped under my radar. Loving his work though... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3kyNGVK-hI
Samilktray Posted 2 June 2010 Posted 2 June 2010 Klashenkoff dropped a new album last week. Gonna give it a listen later.
BrummieFOX Posted 8 June 2010 Author Posted 8 June 2010 ^^ How's it sounding? Haven't had chance to check it out yet.
