davieG Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 From OS While Sunday's win over Middlesbrough did not mark the official end of the season just yet, it did mark the debut of Jersey Budd's version of the terrace anthem 'When You're Smiling'. The song, played at the Walkers Stadium before and after the 2-0 win, marked an extremely memorable moment in the career of the Leicester musician: "When I first heard it being played I almost welled up with emotion. It was a really proud moment for me, especially when I spotted a few people singing along during the post match celebrations" Jersey's season, however, does not end there as he was back at the Walkers Stadium today (Tuesday) for a sound check ahead of his live half-time performance for the play-off semi-final against Cardiff City, a prospect he is looking forward to: "Playing in front of 30,000 people will be magic, having just done the sound check I've really got the bug for it now" Hopefully, Sunday will be a great day and the atmosphere will be electric, It is one thing playing the Albert Hall but to play at the club you love is something else." The half-time performance in front of a huge Walkers Stadium crowd will stand Jersey in good stead for his forthcoming European tour, where the singer will be launching his debut album Wonderlands, visiting Germany, Switzerland and Austria along the way. Back on home soil, Jersey is currently hard at work writing for his second album, but for now Jersey's focus is on this Sunday: "It'll be top, especially if we can get the Birch and someone like Walshy involved and the crowd get behind it, it'll be rocking" 'When You're Smiling' Lyrics When you're smiling When you're smiling The whole world smiles with you When you're laughing When you're laughing The sun comes shining through But when you're crying You bring on the rain So stop your sighing Be happy again Keep on smiling Cause when you're smiling The whole world smiles with you When you're smiling When you're smiling The whole world smiles with you When you're laughing When you're laughing That sun comes shining through But when you're crying You bring on the rain So stop your sighing Be happy again Keep on smiling Cause when you're smiling The whole world smiles with you
Guest Bilo Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 That has potential to be amazing if everyone gets behind it. Hopefully the atmosphere befits the occasion.
purpleronnie Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 I predict it won't make a blind bit of difference. Who's with me?
Sods Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 I reckon before the game would of been better but fair enough.
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 Football matches and live music dont go together. This has something of the foxy-ladies written all over it...
Craig Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 http://www.lcfc.com/articles/20100505/when-youre-smiling-listen-now_2264710_2043514 Is that the whole song? Anyone with Foxes Player fancy ripping the audio?
Alexikokopops Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 Fair play to the club for trying something. It could be a cringe-fest, but hopefully it'd get a few more people learning the song.
purpleronnie Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 Should have chosen:- I guess that's why they call it the blues - elton john Everyone would know it. They could do what wolves do and play a bit and then stop it and the fans join in. Lame but better than it will be against Cardiff.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 They played that a lot - both on Radio Leicester and at the ground, if I remember rightly, during the first play off season under Brian Little. I thought it was ace. The same year I went to 'The Frank Worthington Festival of Football', a charity thing at Filbo and they had boxes full of the single, that they must have had lying around for the previous 18 years, that they were flogging for the princely sum of £1. The b side is 'The Tank', about Graham Cross, which has got to be heard to be believed, if you're not familiar with it

There was one going on ebay a while back for quite a bit but allow paying more than a fiver for a 2 minute 7 inch.
CheshireFox Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 follow the foxes, follow the foxes, we'll follow Leicester wherever they play, we are blue army, we are blue army, blue army barmy home and away! ah the 90s were a great time for music still reminds me of the journey down to Wembley though

Houdini Logic Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 Isn't half time generally the worst time to do something like this? Every fooker is getting a pie or a beer and people rarely get involved
taffyfox Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 Think its great the club are getting behind this and trying to create an atmosphere....but surley it has to be done before the game!! Was at the millenium stadium when we (sorry but Wales) beat Italy 2-1 and the stereophonics played BEFORE the game. Made for a great atmposphere. Cardiff play Men of Harlech before big games and it can be intimidating, Think we should bellow WYS before the game imo. COME ON LEICESTER, BEAT THESE WELSH TW*TS
davieG Posted 5 May 2010 Author Posted 5 May 2010 Isn't half time generally the worst time to do something like this? Every fooker is getting a pie or a beer and people rarely get involved With a full house and a lunch time KO the pies will all be gone by half-time.

It's one of the finest albums I've ever bought, you can get it on iTunes.
iancognito Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 Heroes in Blue & White played live would be better. Destroying one of our few proper anthems during one of the most important games of the season won't inspire anyone.

Jordan Posted 5 May 2010 Posted 5 May 2010 ha, I actually received that on CD as a gift for my birthday. Well, not just that, but you know what I mean
