Joe. Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 I'm pretty happy with that, disappointed on Zamora's behalf but with Heskey and Crouch he's probably not really needed. Joe Cole's got a lot to prove over the next three weeks.

Glad Heskey and Hart are in there.Only change I'd make is Green for Robinson. Other than that, looks alright.
Joe. Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 No Ashley Young?! He's not set the league alight this year like he did last time around, although in fairness I've seen very little of his performances this season. Whenever he's put on an England shirt he's also seemed to struggle somewhat, I'm not particularly surprised he's not in there personally.
Tommeh Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Lennon's there... Amended, I was looking at another geezers list not the offifial one.

SWP is not even a starter for Man City though Young is better and a bigger threat than SWP IMO. And he did score that solo-corker a few weeks ago...
Uncle Albert Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Happy enough with that - glad Agbonlahor, Zamora and Young havent made the 30, none of them have hardly set the Premiership alive, yeah Zamora has scored 11 goals and never done anything for England, where as Heskey is a regular for England and always performs. No brainer. Really hope Parker can make it into the 23 if Barry is injured and doesnr recover in time.
Samilktray Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Never liked Carragher, I'd of preferred Micah Richards to him.
Tilley Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Richards instead of Carragher and Young instead of SWP and that would have been a strong squad. Also, Joe Cole?!
Edmund Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 No Bobby Zamora Fulham must be loving it, he will probably play a blinder tomorrow night as he now has everything to prove.
RowlattsFox Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 SWP does seem to have impact when he plays for England though, not suprised to see him there. Would have been Young instead of Johnson if anything but I'm not really a fan of Ashley Young. Glad Carraghers there, will be a better option than Upson/Lescott and he can cover right back solidly enough.
Simi Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Carragher can get stuffed. Pleased to see Huddlestone given a chance, I think he can certainly have a role to play for us. Shame Scholes wasn't interested, would have loved to have seen him make an appearance, definitely still has it. Not a massive fan of SWP and given the choices in midfield I'd take Lennon and Walcott ahead of him.
Fosse Boy Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Carragher being given the chance to pull on the shirt again is just another factor to add to list of reasons why I don't get as excited about England as I used to when I was younger.
Mee Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 SWP has never really cut it in my eyes. Glad Adam Johnson is there, very good player i think, will be a star. Not to keen on Lennon either, always seemed a little lightweight but has the pace. Good choice of team all together though
dandannieldanok Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 I share the sentiments about Carragher. I doubt I'd have chosen him even if he had not quite the international scene. His form has been patchy for a good couple of seasons now and hopefully Capello will realise this and include the progressive types like Dawson in the final 23 and leave Carragher behind.
isaidno Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Carragher quit because he was 4th choice centre back and playing at right back. Now he's come out of retirement to...... be 3rd or 4th choice again and be reserve right back. Glory grabber
Head Honcho Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 Why are the press calling this his "world cup squad" ? Admittedly most of the 23 will come from this pool but it isn't his world cup squad for crying out loud
Fox You Forest Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 I don't know if it's because Liverpool have been poor as a whole or age is catching up with him but he's not looked half the defender he used to be and I never rated him that highly then.
Head Honcho Posted 11 May 2010 Posted 11 May 2010 No Bobby Zamora Fulham must be loving it, he will probably play a blinder tomorrow night as he now has everything to prove. I think this was Zamora's call and fair play to him. He can't train everyday and will need an operation in the summer so decided to come clean with Capello about it and I'm sure if he plays well next season this won't be forgotten.

JAMIE CARRAGHER: NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER August 2008, extracts taken from Carra: My Autobiography: "I was never in love with playing for England in the first place." "Sitting on the England coach as it prepared to drive us away from the World Cup in Germany, I received a text message. 'Fcuk it! It's only England'. I'd just missed a penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out against Portugal. Representing your country is the ultimate honour, especially in the World Cup. Not to me." "I would rather miss for England than LFC." "I wasn't giving up my football career or my ambitions. Only England." "The Liver Bird mauled the Three Lions in the fight for my loyalties." "Whenever I returned home from disappointing England experiences, one unshakeable, overriding thought pushed itself to the forefront of my mind, no matter how much the rest of the nation mourned. 'At least it wasn't Liverpool,' I'd repeat to myself, over and over." 11 May 2010, upon being named in provisional World Cup squad: "I'm not getting any younger, we have no [big Cup] football next season."

Oh right, I wasn't aware of that, fairplay then.
