Tommeh Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Either a storming good cup run, or more play-off drama please. Both would be incredible.
iBleedLeicesterColours Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 As i've said previously, Change happens and you have to keep up with it. 5th last season we need to improve. Times change, forget mid table, we've moved on.
Salieri Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Due to the 'overachievement' of last season it's inevitable that expectations will have risen. There will be more pressure on Nige and the boys in that fans now will almost expect us to achieve at least a Play Off place. I see no reason why we shouldn't aim for that and the squad with 3 or 4 shrewd additions can achieve that but i hope that if things don't quite work out then the fans won't get on the back of Nige and the lads because we have come a long way in a short space of time.
Bakey Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Perhaps a similar season to Forest apart from the fortress at home and woeful away bussiness. But would be content with anything above 9th.
flanimal Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 Perhaps a similar season to Forest apart from the fortress at home and woeful away bussiness. But would be content with anything above 9th. I'd say 5th to 2nd should be Leicester's aim for next season. Last season Pearson aimed for play offs and that was considered a big statement. Gotta push on and go for automatics..
AyewJoking Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 anything but the play-offs and we've gone backwards.
lcfc"weasel" Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 My expectation for next year is that the players give 110% week in week out. I can deal with losing as long as the players have tried their hardest and are able to walk off the pitch after 90 minutes thinking I gave it my all today.
Leicester Bean Posted 16 May 2010 Posted 16 May 2010 I'd love us to get automatic but realistically I think 2nd - 4th is possible
thybluefox Posted 17 May 2010 Author Posted 17 May 2010 Thought I best post in here considering I started the thread Have to agree 100% with the thought that aiming for anything less than playoffs is a step backwards. Overall we thoroughly deserved to finish 5th this season, and you could argue we should have finished higher. I think we'll just miss out on the automatic slots, but we should be going out in August to win the league, especially with the quality signings we all hope Pearson will make this summer.
flanimal Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 I'll say top 10 finish will do me. That's an insult to everything those players have worked for! Top 6 minimum. Has to be.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 Potentially a season which will put this season's efforts in a much greater prespective (i.e. finishing outside of the play offs by some distance). It does highly depend on signings over the summer and what our production line of youth talent has to bring to the squad.
Dames Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 As mentioned before with WBA, Newcastle and possibly Cardiff being replaced by uninspiring drawl we have every chance to push on and go for automatic as long as we retain the core from this season and the mentality. I'm just hoping the loss to Cardiff doesn't ruin some of the players confidence.
Mav Posted 17 May 2010 Posted 17 May 2010 I've thought about this and I would say it is more optimistic than pessimistic. Due to our finish this season we will have made money and we will be a more attractive club to join. Towards the end of the season (bar Cardiff play-offs, Reading and Cov 2nd-half) our home form was unbelievable and even in those games we were unfortunate. The Walkers is becoming a fortress and along with our decent away form, if we keep it up next season, there is no reason why we can't finish in the top 6 again. We MUST keep Hobbs and King without a doubt. Those are the two players that our team should be built around and Hobbs must become captain. Having looked at our squad we have pretty much sufficient cover in every position and with a couple of additions and keeping the squad that we have now, we will only progress and the younger players will only get better. The teams coming down are poor. Hull and Portsmouth are certainties to lose most of their good players. Burnley have an awful manager with average players. There will be nobody in the division who we cannot give a good hiding to. Prediction: 2nd. (Rolling back to Micky Adams years.)
thybluefox Posted 18 May 2010 Author Posted 18 May 2010 Why can't it be August already!? This summer is going to draaaaaaaag!
teblin Posted 18 May 2010 Posted 18 May 2010 I don't see why if pearson remains and the core of the squad is here with a few additions we can't push on for top 6 maybe automatic.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 i'm thinking we've got to aim high. why not? i'd like to think we can reach the play-offs again, if not automatic but the championship is such a tight league so who knows? as long as we can keep hold of Nige & our key players then I don't see why we can't be in the mix again next year
Fox You Forest Posted 19 May 2010 Posted 19 May 2010 Why can't it be August already!? This summer is going to draaaaaaaag! Tell me about it, I'm already looking round the house for things to paint and fix at the weekend, DIY. Hopefully cricket and when the WC starts it should see me through.
