Be a good person for James Vaughan to learn off should we get him back on loan (looks more likely now they've signed Beckford).

He later announced that he was on medication for both mild depression and anxiety, due to the off-field problems surrounding him at Ankaragücü. He parted company with the club at the end of the 2009-10 season. He has, however, stated his intent to remain in Turkey and join a new Super Lig club. He wasn't even that good at his best.

Marlon Harewood got 5 in 15 for Newcastle on loan last year. 1 in 3 goal ratio is perfectly fine for the Championship.

Plus Newcastle would have produced more chances than we do so I doubt he'd even manage that. He's scored 16 goals since 2006. If people are going to get hung up about promotion, we need better than this. It's would just be another Carl Cort episode all over again. Hopefully Pearson pays no attention to these waste players.

(not you personally ) i understand we all have pre conceptions of players but i personally reserve all judgement on players before ive seen them in a city shirt! in nige i trust!

You have to weigh up the risk though. Of course we don't know what would happen with any player that joins the club, but why take a risk that actually isn't that necessary. And you can't really combine the schools of though of signing a Harewood-type with the signing of a non-league player, it's completely different. With Harewood, you are getting someone the wrong side of 30 and likely to be after wages of £10k+. With a non-league player, you are getting someone young, hungry and on the cheap, it's far less risky.
