Fosse Boy Posted 13 June 2010 Author Posted 13 June 2010 Seen plenty of ultra groups accross Europe which incorporate their country's/region's colours into their flags and whatnot. Think you boys are in danger of trying too hard to be continental and in doing so forgetting that many ultra groups are viciously proud of the traditions of their country and their club. Yeah think it was mentioned a couple of pages back that many do use national flags, I've seen the likes of Napoli/Lazio/Juve fans etc with Italian flags before. I just personally find the St. George a boring flag design.
ACF Posted 13 June 2010 Posted 13 June 2010 With national flags, I've put a few images of my idea of them on the page.

Not having a pop at the group at all, just seems like there's potential to act European to for the sake of being European and end up actually doing the opposite of what a lot of groups on the continent do. Like seen a couple of people say you won't be singing simple, 'generic' chants like Leicester, Leicester, Leicester, when from what I saw in Spain although the ultras have obviously got their own more complicated songs, they're the ones that also get the rest of the crowd going by singing the popular, simple chants which lots of people join in with and I think that's important.
AndyBrew Posted 13 June 2010 Posted 13 June 2010 listening to the example songs put on here I think they are quite difficult to follow and I was just wondering how we will get them going? even if people learn the words it appears the basis of the chants is the rythmn and pace

Oh yeah definitely. You've got to strike a balance when thinking about what you sing and I think hopefully most of us recognise that.
howsyourfather Posted 14 June 2010 Posted 14 June 2010 I don't see the problem with st george's flags, if you get a well made one with some decent writing on they look great. they cost a fair bit but i think they're worth it. It does seem like a lot of people are gettin lost in the whole continental side of it all. Which is why this whole idea will probably fall flat on its arse, the normal fan will not relate to it. I don't know if anyone saw the union flag that some of the watford fans brought to the walkers this year. it was red gold and black, i thought that looked great.

Yeah, because it's in their club colours. Blue with a white cross or white with a blue cross would look far better than a normal St. George in my opinion. No one's object to the odd St. George or Union Jack but if the majority opt to just do that then we're going to have a very boring looking section. Again, just my opinion.
Floating Fox Posted 14 June 2010 Posted 14 June 2010 We aren't looking to appeal to todays "normal" fan really. But as you say, Stuff like what watford brought does look great, it is completly different to a st.georges cross though so you've kinda contradicted yourself. Just bring flags whatever they are, the core of the group know what we are looking for and we will try to spread our ideas and get more people into our thinking.

Fosse Boy Posted 14 June 2010 Author Posted 14 June 2010 i had no idea That was my point though. You said that hat's what made it look good. If it had just been an ordinary Union Jack it wouldn't have caught your attention would it?
