London 2012 mascots revealed

Truly dreadful.....in my opinion. My first reaction was to laugh, then stop and realise this isn't actually a joke. Not sure who's idea it was to make them cyclops, rather than endear them to children they're more likely to give them nightmares.

i like them... compared to some of the other mascots at least they are modern and relevant.

wenlock, i assume from Much Wenlock, the place in shropshire where the modern olympics started; mandeville, i'm guessing is simething to do with Stoke Mandeville hospital, as it is the paralympics one.

nah, could have been a lot worse.

I like them. Wish they were a little less teletubbie-ish but for blobs of steel they're quite cute.

At least we don't have Pedobear...

lol I followed a van on my way to work this morning that had Pedobear peeping out of the back window. It was quite unnerving - so much so that I overtook him at the first opportunity. >_<

To be honest, I don't mind them... I can see where they are coming from with the idea and some of the design aspects are actually very good.

What I think is very strong about them is that they have a story and that makes them more likeable to the public so good on the Olympic bunch for taking the time to get to know what people actually thought of what they wanted in a mascot.

What I'm not liking is the shape and that they're cyclops but I suppose this is the British Olympic Committee and they were never going to get it right were they... seems they are determined to make us look utterly pathetic in comparison to Beijing as, let's face it, that is who we'll be compared to as they went last and pretty much everything they had was pretty damn good.

Quite like them, good idea... a story and meaning, much better than the typical furry toy

I don't really have a problem with the names. I think it's good that they went for a nod to the histroy of the games rather than something generic.

For a moment I wondered what they were thinking and then I realised that they probably hadn't designed them to appeal to the average 35 year old financial services worker.

Perhaps they should have done, then they would have looked like that lass out of Doctor Who
