More Ins And Outs

Posted on: Tue 08 Jun 2010

With the signings of Jelle Van Damme and Steven Fletcher secured, plus the departure of Chris Iwelumo to Burnley, Mick McCarthy reckons there will still be more ins and outs at Molineux before the Premier League campaign begins in August.

"There is a bit of business still to be done," he confirmed. "And there will have to be a few move on as well.

"Andy Keogh started the season and then got injured and wasn't in the team. He does not want to be third or fourth choice, none of them do but that's how it can end up.

"Andrew Surman is a good player, he had a couple of games then didn't get his chance. He doesn't want to be third or fourth choice. If that's going to be the case they might want to move on.

"There are players who have helped us but it comes to a natural progression that they will move on - you can't just keep them here for back up. They have got to be seen to be fighting for a place.

"If they come back and are seen to be fighting for a place then I guess that (them leaving) won't happen. If it turns out that some players aren't fighting for a place then it does happen. It's natural progression.

"I know what will happen. They will all come back but I can only have a squad of 25. There's lads who haven't played as much as they would like but they all come back with renewed enthusiasm wanting to play - it's a good club and they all enjoy it here.

"But if it looks like they aren't going to play it will be: 'eh gaffer, do you see me fitting in here?'

"The players I mentioned (Keogh and Surman) might be the best ones in training and come back as fit as fleas.

"It's not an exact science (as to who leaves). I want them all to come back and fight for a spot - Richard Stearman at right back or centre-back, George Elokobi and Steven Ward at left-back now we have signed Van Damme.

"I am all for 25 players kicking, scrapping and biting to get into the team and making them as good as they can be."

Meanwhile, of the departing Iwelumo, Mick added: "Chris has gone. He was terrific. Lumes was one of the building blocks in the club's progress.

"You get sad but you have to move on. Players do become surplus to requirements.

"As a bloke I'd still want him around, but with regards to players they want to play football."

Sorry I know it's not to do with your original post above but I have just heard a rumour & it's just a rumour, no solid facts to back it up i'm afraid, just word of mouth!

Adams is off to Div 1 side Leyton Orient on a season loan deal, I dont think we would get much money for him & he won't figure much next season, so I suppose it's a good deal for everyone involved as he enjoyed his loan speall last season.

Has anyone else heard this rumour?

How much would he bring in if Leyton Orient signed him?

Is a season loan deal a good thing?

It's confusing as everytime i've seen him play he shows good touch, pace, desire and talent yet he never gets a decent run in the team.

This being the case, a season long loan would be a good thing to keep him sharp but we need to have a recall option in case of an injury crisis.

In regards to Keogh and Surman, we were linked with Keogh at the beginning of last season so would be a good shout, Surman I know nothing about except for his reputation. All we'll be able to sign this summer is bosman's and freebies so either would be welcome.

A few months back we took a lad Kyle Bennett on trial from Wolves who received some good reports but no news ever came. Anyone know anything?

Ballack and Joe Cole have been released by Chelsea. They should also be targets in my opinion.

Not really the same is it.

Not really the same is it.

It's dead simple.

[1] Absolutely NO rumours to be posted from the Football-Rumours website.

..... Rumours only from somewhat credible sources, please.

[2] If there's a player you think we should sign, stick it in the City's Shopping List

..... We don't need everyone's two pennies in separate topics, you're just not that interesting, I'm afraid.

Any topic that doesn't satisfy these requirements will be terminated on sight. **

I'd personally rather read rumours with actual links not everyones football manger wishlists.

we've been linked with both in the past and besides personally I'd rather not of read about DJ Campbell all the time last season but it didn't you wanking over him every time he actually managed to stay onside

i would have both of them to be honest. keogh did a great job for wolves getting them promoted and surman is a great assest but were would he play, because are midfield is good. king and wellens are immense together, dyer and gallagher on the wings.

The idea that we have the money to spend to tempt players such as these let alone the multi million pound transfer fees is ludicrous.
