davieG Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Sorry it's late something must have happened to distract me.
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 It's a great game, highly entertaining so far and a wonderful advertisement for football - Mexico just had two spectacular shots at the Argentine goal.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Mexico have already hit the bar, if this is half as good as it was in 06 this will be a mint game.
Asha Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Thing is though, introducing technology would eventually mean any decision would be contested (goals, corners, red cards etc), and everyone would wait for the screen to confirm the decision. Would kill the game.
davieG Posted 27 June 2010 Author Posted 27 June 2010 Was it offside or not, I was out the room so didn't see it?
Matt Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Video technology....Nah, why would we need a thing like that introduced to the game, How many years has this game been going, Never any mistakes made
FoxyPV Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Mark Bright is a cock - they are right to protest - no they are not everyone makes mistakes and you shouldn't argue with the officials regardless of how badly wrong they get it. Get over it - it happens everyone. This is the same media who will complain about the lack of respect the officials get and then advocate this behaviour. Joke

Would kill the game. you can restrict it to just goal decisions you don't have to go the whole hog.
Asha Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 you can restrict it to just goal decisions you don't have to go the whole hog. Then why don't we have an official behind each goal? Would have spotted the Lampard goal, that's for sure.

FoxyPV Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 If you are going to introduce video technology - have a limited referral system like cricket and tennis. That piece of defending for the 2nd was comical
Salieri Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Like the England game, the dodgy decision will not affect the outcome, Argentina are a class apart, as were Germany. That said, something really needs to be done regarding video technology, sooner rather than later.
davieG Posted 27 June 2010 Author Posted 27 June 2010 Then why don't we have an official behind each goal? Would have spotted the Lampard goal, that's for sure. I'd imagine that would be much more expensive in the long run and they'd be wasted most of the time. I don't see it has any advantage over modern fast technology. You could also restrict teams to a limited number of appeals. When you consider how long the average free kick takes to set up these days I hardly think 'time' is an issue (I know you didn't mention this but many do)

I think it is just the idea of waiting for a screen to tell me when to celebrate a goal I knew was a goal 20 seconds earlier and the like. Plus, take the issue of occasional human errors out of the game and what would we all talk about

Well the Assistant was in his proper position watching the rear-line for offsides so the angle was always going to be problem for him and could actually be worse in similar incidents, he cant' be watch for offsides halfway up the pitch and the goal line at the same time - not that I was saying that at the time.

lildave3 Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Heinze Argentina look bloody dangerous. Them against Germany could be a stunning game...
