Steven Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 There is a rumour on another forum that Mace has parted company with City. Confirmed on the OS. Mace Opts For Pastures NewLeicester City's Chief Operating Officer Paul Mace is leaving the club. Mace is to establish his own sports media and public relations agency serving clubs, governing bodies and sporting sponsors. Mace (41) has spent a combined total of 14 years during two spells with the Foxes. Formerly Director of Communications, he returned to the club as a Board member in 2002 when Leicester City came out of administration. "I have enjoyed my time immensely at the club but have always promised myself that I would like to own and operate my own business," he said. "My thanks go to Chief Executive Tim Davies, the board and everyone connected with the club for making it undoubtedly one of the very best football clubs in the country. "With Craig at the helm as football manager, I am sure that successful times on the pitch are just around the corner."

Scow Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I thought it was too good to be true when I heard the rumour.
Deathside Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Cracking News  His departure should also help reduce this problematic wage bill
Ricey Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 YES! The man annoyed me so much, he was a disgrace at Leicester.
Newcastle_Fox Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Good News and good riddance! I wonder who is gonna be in charge of marketing such crap as 120year anniversary shirts now or are we gonna get someone with abit of sense?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 "undoubtedly one of the very best football clubs in the country."
C-man Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Get in! He was one of those people who couldnt organise a shag in a brothel. Good riddance

Nationwider Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I've just clicked on lcfc.com and the front page Father's Day Slippers Promotion is, I think, a fitting way for Macey to bow out. Shameless!
Deathside Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Get in! He was one of those people who couldnt organise a shag in a brothel. Good riddance 111584 Or a Status Quo gig in a football stadium?
dynamite foxes Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 This sums leicester fans up. you don't know a good thing when it hits you in the face. Mace was a brilliant CEO, he is corporately brilliant and has come up with some fantastic initiatives for the club. It was a great appointment by Jon Holmes to have him at the club. He was always very pleasant if you ever spoke to him and has done a really good job. He handled the La Manga situation fantastically well and we will do well to get anyone who is nearly as good. You all think that Tim Davies is good and you are completely wrong, he is good financially but when it comes to football he has no clue. I really think that the most part on here are bone heads. I really feel that when the next CEO comes along you won't have a clue. Good luck Mr Mace thank you for doing a brilliant job at this football club.

You are aren't you? He was utter mince at his job that is why his departure has been greeted with joy across all LCFC messageboards. He showed nothing but utter contempt for the fans and he refused to back down when the weight of public opinion was against him. Please give us a list of his fantastic initiatives. Meanwhile here is a list of his 'success' in recent times: 1 - Pepsi Max Tourney - at leat a 150 grand loss and the most obscure non entity teams you could think of. 2 - Foxes Festival - Status Quo and Darius???? what the **** was that all about no wonder it was cancelled and it will have cost the club money. 3 - 120 annivesary - brilliant lets celebrate what exactly? All that tatty merchandise that never sold, great who is paying for that? 4 - Fosse Gold - the only reason it 'is the most popular away kit of all time' was because of the FA Cup run and them getting knocked out for less than we bought them in for. Probably a break even exercise at best. 5 - Matchday Experience - he hired the catering company who cocked it up on the opening day and then tried to humiliate them on the OS. He should have proided the figures of what was required. Henry, the PA guy, Birch need I go on. The happy clappy music it's football not America. 6 - JJB link up - Great stuff a well known brand to chavs and neds all over the land. We even get AVS with the kit on a ONE YEAR CYCLE and the spin that accompanied it. 'We get it over the summer so it lasts longer'....... '40% of Clubs operate on a 1 year cycle'. 7 - East Bengal FC - what is this all about, what benefits have the Club had there except the bills for his and their airfares to and from India? Great link up how many players has that provided for the Club? How many of our games are on Indian TV? He was a fraud and has been found out and asked politely to leave the Club. Best news since CL drop kicked Bassett out the door. I hope this weasel never darkens our door again.
Foxes_Trust Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 You will see the Trust's reaction in our press release tomorrow morning. For Dynamites benefit - they aren't replacing Paul Mace, so there won't be a next CEO
Chandler Posted 20 May 2005 Posted 20 May 2005 Utter tosh. Utter, utter tosh. Pierpoint and Mace were and still are regarded as the most astute commercial operators in football. Wanna know how Kenyon and co developed the MUFC brand? Do you know which clubs commercial operation influenced them more than any other? There's a trade magazine that goes out to the great and the good of virtually all FA affilliated clubs. I helped set it up in the early 90's. Now guess which club's marketing operation was endlessly dissected in its pages month after month after month after....

Now guess which club's marketing operation was endlessly dissected in its pages month after month after month after.... 111967 But Pierpoint turned City from a club making no money off the field to one of the most successful businesses in football. Wasn't there a year where the only two clubs to make a profit we City and Manure? If it wasn't for the clash between the footballing side and the marketing, Pierpoint might still be here. Who knows what could have happened to this club. Mace, on the other hand, is a jumped up radio presenter, who thinks he's Pierpoint number 2. The Pepsi Max tournament, the WS music festival, the whole 120 year anniverary thing, what great success they are! So we've managed to keep our reputation with regards to the corporate side, but when it comes to the fans and what they want, Mace hasn't got a clue.
