Edwards-lcfcfan Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 Who will sousa buy as he will be named new manager soon. who should he get, what position?
Narborough_fox Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 If all stay, Right-back and a Right-mid so really a whole new right side. A Centre-Back for cover unless he feels Parkes and Morrison is adequate.
Salieri Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 Two right backs, a centre back, a central midfielder, a winger, and a striker (or two, depending on departures). Browns gone, Solano to follow probably. I'd also get rid of Neilson and Oakley. DJ Campbell and Kermorgant are other possibilities but i still feel we're short up front and one or both could yet make an impact. I'd keep Howard for one more season.
Edwards-lcfcfan Posted 6 July 2010 Author Posted 6 July 2010 A pacy striker Danny Haynes? right back Kerrea Gilbert? Bradley Orr? right mid James O'shea on loan? Lloyd Sam* Centre Back Liam Chilvers? Centre Mid Richard Chaplow? * IMO LLoyd Sam wont cut it at this level
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 A 3rd keeper (or bring through a youth one) A right back A Centre back, maybe two. A Central midfielder, or again maybe two. A winger, possibly on both sides A striker, though that need not be a priority.
Narborough_fox Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 A 3rd keeper (or bring through a youth one) Is Ambrusics still at the club?
ROS5 Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 Mandaric has said he'll have money to spend and hopefully with the slaes of brown n possibly campbell he;ll have a bit to strenghten the squad :
Narborough_fox Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 Mandaric has said he'll have money to spend and hopefully with the slaes of brown n possibly campbell he;ll have a bit to strenghten the squad : Brown left by Mutual consent.
Fox You Forest Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 A 3rd keeper (or bring through a youth one) A right back A Centre back, maybe two. A Central midfielder, or again maybe two. A winger, possibly on both sides A striker, though that need not be a priority. So pretty much a new team then. I'd say a right back, centre back, centre midfielder and a striker should be the main priorities, obviously dependant on which system Paulo is to use.
foxoffderby Posted 6 July 2010 Posted 6 July 2010 Rightback 2 centre halves 2 centre mids 2 strikers oh and some doritos
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Worrying thought for the day - we need to find replacements for the following JUST TO STAND STILL: Martyn Waghorn James Vaughan Jay Spearing Wayne Brown Alex Bruce Ryan McGivern OK, so the last one could be replaced by a chicken and no-one would notice, but the rest were all strong parts of last season's squad in their respective positions. If we don't get similar players in, we'll be weaker even without looking at other areas where we probably still had deficiencies (e.g. cover at right back and goalkeeper).
hackneyfox Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 You'd better put your tin hat on, I mentioned the goalie and got lambasted for it.

Tom Kennedy in for McGivern and if Tunchev's recovery is as good as it is supposed to be then he is one of those central defensive places. It's not all doom and gloom guys.
blueblood Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 There's going to be a lot of debating, drunk pub talk and general speculation as to what the well dressed, long and wavey haired Paulo Sousa will do regarding our current squad. personally, I think we need to strengthen the the defence. Left back is solid with Bruno and Kennedy, however we need at least one more centre back- we've lost Brown and Bruce, and Tunch isn't fit yet (?), so only Hobbs and Morrison as recgonised centre backs. We also need a right back, even though Morrison did a good job there last season, we need either back-up for him, or a first choice right back and have Morrison as a first choice centreback and emergency right-back. Nielsen needs to be sold or murdered, he's shocking, and Solano's gone. Any suggestions? Also is our young fullback O'neil ready to step up yet? As for the goalkeeper, Weale is more than good enough for me- yeah he could probably do a bit better on commanding his area, and also on crosses, but practically every keeper in the world has room for improvement. He's defintely one of the best keepers in the division. In midfield, I think we need an out and out right winger. I don't think Pearson should've let Gradel go, and I certainly didn't agree with Oakley on the right. Infact Oakley in the team altogether is a no-go, he was consistently poor last season, often a passanger in the team, and even his set-pieces, which were very useful in Leage one, were poor last season. Plus I imagine he's one of the highest earners at the club, and as a captain, I've never rated him- I'd much prefer a Jacks Hobbs type captain, somebody vocal and with a presence, rather than a quiet and clever type, who 'leads by example'. And he didn't score a SINGLE GOAL last season, which is a joke. Okay, Wellens only scored one, but when he played well, the whole team played well, and although a bit tubby, I think Wellens is our main central midfield man, I think he's generally a really good footballer. I rate King as well; he scores alot of goals and shows great composure infront of goal, but I think he can improve his overall game alot and get involved more, which is good news really, as he has yet to fulfill his potential. Dyer had a great season, and I think we can get more out of N'Guessan. I'm glad Adams has chosen to stay too, shows a great attitude. I think a creative midfielder, and combative midfieilder, similar to Spearing would be good additions. Also looking forward to seeing this young kid Aman Verma, heard good things about him. And upfront, well I think Yann is a goner, as is DJ hopefully. We've lost Vaughan and Waggy, who I'd LOVE to get back, but we do have Fryatt still thankfully, although Howard, even though he had a great game against Cardiff in the 2nd leg, is past it now. Otherwise we're a bit thin, so a striker or two would be great. Although the idea of progressing N'Guessan into a Centre Forward could pay dividends- he can head/win flick ons, can strike a ball and is good at finsihing, he's strong and fast, and is naturally a good footballer. I just think he can be lazy at times, and he needs to work on his conditioning so that he can play consistently well for 90 minutes. Gallagher for me is a starnge player- he has undoubted ability, but how does one get the best out of him- upfront with Fryatt, on the left, as an attacking midfielder, upfront on his own?? I don't know. I do know he's a good player and I'm glad we've got him. Also, I'd love to know why Pearson kept Ashley Chambers on the books, and released Billy Ke though, that really seems a strange one. Chambers, since bursting on the scene as our youngest ever player, has done nothing, partially due to injuries. Kee was getting rave reviews on the other hand. Let me know what you think of the above, and what your views are...
foxoffderby Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 My view is that there is a thread already open in transfers for this subject.
hackneyfox Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 We have a first team squad of 18 Tunchev won't be fit until September and there are no guarantees on how good he will be. Probably looking at 6 players coming in
flanimal Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Depends because we don't know what kind of formation he'll use. Pearson was very much a 4-4-2 and a 4-5-1 man (call it 4-3-3 if you like, but when you got 5 men in midfield, it ain't!) Being Portugese, he may favour a continental formation, or even the kind Brazil used, with two holding players.
richardsfoxes Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 I'd like Gallagher to play upfront with Fryatt this season and have dany just behind them, thanks paulo.
