shen Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Shen, in that holy formation you use what type of striker do you use Leigh Griffiths as ? Poacher
General Smuts Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Haha, unlucky! As Finners says, you need your players to be somewhat competent in the given formation. You can keep up to three tactics in your match preparation though (I always do. Gotta have a plan B!), so in time they will be fluent in the cross one too. Good luck with your promotion push My laptop takes so long to do anything in game that i've mugged off match prep onto my AM. Since i last posted ive not taken a break or owt but have only managed to play another 1 game. Taken me up to 6th though after i demolished Scunny away from home 4-0. Griffiths is now top scorer.

Ah, I understand. But it's not like Match preparation is anything you need to fiddle with before every game. Far from it. I only touch it in the summer break and when the tactics have been fully learned. Have found little or no use for the 'special area of focus', so I just keep it on 'attacking movement' in the vain hope that it will give me a little extra.
Finnegan Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 I know he's good, and I do plan to sign him in the summer once the money's there. His pace is indeed what really catches the eye. Getting numbers and enough quality in to push for a CL spot in my first Prem season took priority though (ambitious!). Eriksen was just a tad too expensive when I could get Thiago, Galvan and Hazard in for about the same as he would've cost me. How much were they asking for? He only cost me 7. I got given 44 when I went up, I think. I had loads spare at the end of the window, I brought Nicolas Lodeiro purely just because Fabian Carini asked me to because he was unsettled!! Turned to be my star AML and captain a few seasons later haha.

Turned to be my star AML and captain a few seasons later haha. Yeah, I negotiated 7,5 and had agreed terms with him. But I didn't get anywhere near that kind of money. 44 million? Did Top put in some wedge in that time? I was constantly losing money in the Champo and I'm still 3 million in the red despite having a net transfer income of 14,5 mil since I took over. In total I've had maybe 12,5 mil to play with at the start of the Prem and I've only got 8,000k p/w of wages to add to the budget.
Finnegan Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Strange. Did you stay within your wage and and transfer budgets in season one? I used every last penny of my transfer budget but stayed under the wages, just about. I'm sure it was 44, can't remember, you'd have to look back through the thread. Next time I load up the game I'll find my City file and check. Can't even remember entirely who I brought. M'Vila, Eriksen and Lodeiro were the main ones - the stars. Lodeiro I got a bit mugged on, think it was either 11 or 14 million. But M'Vila had fallen out with his manager and was a steal at like 1.4m or something insane like that. Spent about 5m on Aissati who was a disappointment and I sold for profit at the end of the year. Coleman came in for about 2m, hm. This is all from memory. I definitely had loads of excess by January. Edit: Just glanced back through the thread and I never announced what I got but Ozwin said he got given about 30m when he was promoted so I probably got the same? 44m might have been later seasons once I got into the CL.

Yeah, I did. Admittedly I used all the money available but I stayed within both budgets. I'd set my target to win the Champo, so did get a fair amount. But second season I've only got about those 12-13 million if you convert the surplus wages and not counting the money I got through selling. And that has to get me to a top half finish at least! Still less than half what you guys reportedly got Not that I'm complaining about my progress. 5th after 16 games and still within touch of the big boys.
Hibernian Fan Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 My club is 100% financially prudent with Hibs. This is the money i have spent and received in my 4 seasons. Season 1 - Spent £375k, Received £3.4m (profit of £3m) Season 2 - Spent £53k, Received £1.7m (profit of £1.65m) Season 3 - Spent £5k!!! Received £2.1m (profit of £2.1m) Season 4 - Spent £110k, Received £11m (profit of £10.9m) So in my first 4 seasons i have made a profit of £17.65m through transfers. Now my balance is £16m and i have £9m to spend if needed, which i will spend barely any of.
Brainy Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 5 games into my career with Tamworth and ive lost all 5, including 3 games where i've been 2-0 ahead and still managed to **** up. last game we were 2-1 up after 85, and then Fleetwood's winner was a 35 yard screamer surprisingly. i wouldnt have confidence in this side if we were 15-0 up. won my 6th game 2-1 after going 2-0 up.. miracle.
Narborough_fox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Start of my 3rd season my team is; GK: Alex Smithies RB: Seamus Coleman CB: Jack Hobbs CB: Phil Jones LB: Lee Wallace CM: Andy King CM: Charlie Adam CM: Yuki Abe CAM: Shaun Wright-Phillips ST:Garra Dembele ST: Leigh Griffiths/ James Vaughan. I have 20 million left to spend and don't know who to get. NB: Training. How can I get the best out of my players using training as I have no idea.

Sign Bernardo the CM from Cruzeiro, he cost me £10mil, he's not great instantly but give him time to settle and he's a beast. Also try to sign Lacina Traore as a target man
ScouseFox Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Got bored of my old Leicester game, after I got relegated. Started again, signed Griffiths, Coleman, Kapo, Chris Wood, Cairney and Szczesny. Wood and Griffiths as a target man/poacher combinations is working sensationally, and Kapo's got 7 in 9 league games from the wing.
shen Posted 14 January 2011 Posted 14 January 2011 Sorry if this is boring, but I just wanted to capture the moment as I can't quite believe it. After an extreme flurry of transfer activity, I'm now top of the Premier League after 9 games with a new and utterly experimental tactic. I started the season with a 0-0 draw against Arsenal and then had an unfortunate 2-1 away defeat at Man City even though i restricted them to 5 shots on target. But I've been unbeaten since in nine games knocking Chelsea out of the League Cup (away too) and getting fantastic wins against defending champions Man U and Villa away. Proud! No doubt it will all crumble before me now. Sure enough it's all starting to unravel a bit now. Been a victim of some amazing wonder goals, most notably Tevez and Mulumbu of all people. Coupled with a few silly early red cards, misfiring strikers and a few key injuries I'm now struggling to get any result. Also had the most rotten luck in the cup draws. After an excellent away win at Chelsea in the LC (ensuring the comp target) I only got drawn against Man City away (who are quickly proving to be my nemesis), and in the FA Cup I only got another away draw at Chelsea in the fourth round. *sigh* It'll be a struggle to get into Europe next season! Edit: Haha, royally buggered now. Picked up four wins on the trot to put me right back in the hunt for CL, but now Bamba, Soumaré and Sané have all left for that diabolical tourno in Africa! I'm left with Hobbs as the only central defender available. Hilariously tragic! Edit 2: Stunned. Just slaughtered Chelsea (a lot of reserves admittedly) 0-4 in the FA Cup despite even getting my makeshift defender injured. Morales didn't care and went on to bag a sensational hattrick. This game never ceases to stir up emotions! Edit: Got paired with Man U in the fifth round and disposed of them too. That's two wins against Man U and Chelsea first season. Decent. Only one tough team left in the Cup, so I drew them of course. Spurs away sixth round? Pah!
Narborough_fox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Really need my FIVE players to return from the olympics for my second leg against Red Star. Dre the first leg 1-1 (BAMBA). I've got bloody Ambrusics in goal at the minute.
Brainy Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 interesting Forest Green formation for our basement battle

Somehow im now an amazing manager! After getting news reports constantly that im due to be sacked at any minute even the day after beating Cardiff 6-1 away from home im up to 2nd and 3 points behind F****t. Got manager of the month the last 2 months and won 13 of the last 14 games (8 in a row) including winning 6-0 and 7-0 in the same week. Also just drawn 3-3 with West Ham in the FA Cup. 1st Vs 2nd up next!
Bugg Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Decided to do a few seasons in Scottish football so I opted for Hearts. I didn't make too many drastic changes to my team but hopefully I can try to challenge for the SPL This is my team so far: Balogh Yakubu - DeMerit - Zaliukas(sp) - Wallace Zilijer - Black - Stevenson - Driver Griffiths - Kyle I've got a few players on the bench still like Leo Aro who usually plays well on my other games and I also got Magnus Eikrem on loan from Manchester United after becoming their feeder club.
Narborough_fox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 interesting Forest Green formation for our basement battle Aye, they played something similar against me. If you are leaking golas get Parkes on loan or Permenant. Beast for me at Wimbledon.
The Doctor Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 all about the arrival of Burakcan **** - signed purely for the name but doing alright so far.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 interesting Forest Green formation for our basement battle I take it they got a man sent off or did they start with 10?
Narborough_fox Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 I take it they got a man sent off or did they start with 10? Start of the game so they must of started with 10.
General Smuts Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 Got beat by F****t in the 83rd minute after i went down to 10 men after using 3 subs. Livid. Now 6 points behind them. Was 2-1 up at half time as well.
Brainy Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 start of the game yeah. and im leaking goals but theres nothing i can do about it. noone wants to join me, my strikers cant finish. i tried telling paris cowan-hall to place the ball in the corner of the net and he felt it wouldnt benefit his game. since playing tonight i drew my first 3, got threatened with the sack then ever since ive lost all games. all four of them. just arranged a friendly against a shit team to get some confidence back. i beat bournemouth fc (poppies) 4-0 but got dominated lol

General Smuts Posted 15 January 2011 Posted 15 January 2011 You stuck it out with one formation for a while? Yeah 4-4-2 with 2 inside forwards and defensive forward/poacher. In fairness i've never had a problem sticking to a formation once i've found one that works (tactical consistency - 18) it just took me ages to find one on this FM. Beat West Ham 1-0 at home and in the same week beat Stoke 2-0. Gwan the BLARMY! Both without Leigh Griffiths whose been out injured for a couple of weeks. Thought i'd miss his goals (28 in the league) but Fabbiani and Mouche have been chipping in nicely. Not so happy with Kapetanos though and i couldn't afford Dembele. EDIT: John Fleck on loan has been a revelation - 5 goals and 6 assists in 10 games. Monster.
