Matt Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 1 (2) Spain 2 (4) Netherlands 3 (1) Brazil 4 (6) Germany 5 (7) Argentina 6 (16) Uruguay 7 (8) England 8 (3) Portugal 9 (12) Egypt 10 (18) Chile 11 (5) Italy 12 (13) Greece 13 (14) USA 13 (15) Serbia 15 (10) Croatia 16 (31) Paraguay 17 (11) Russia 18 (24) Switzerland 19 (25) Slovenia 20 (20) Australia 21 (9) France 22 (22) Norway 23 (32) Ghana 24 (17) Mexico 25 (23) Ukraine 26 (27) Côte d'Ivoire 27 (34) Slovakia 28 (29) Turkey 29 (36) Denmark 30 (21) Nigeria 31 (33) Czech Republic 32 (45) Japan 33 (30) Algeria 34 (42) Gabon 35 (37) Sweden 36 (41) Republic of Ireland 37 (26) Israel 38 (53) Peru 39 (35) Colombia 40 (19) Cameroon 41 (43) Scotland 42 (28) Romania 43 (39) Bulgaria 44 (47) Korea Republic 45 (48) Burkina Faso 46 (38) Honduras 47 (49) Venezuela 48 (59) Belgium 49 (40) Costa Rica 50 (46) Latvia Does anyone know how they work these out? Is there a valid reason we have moved up 1 place because we certainly don't deserve it or earnt it imo. 7th best team in the world? Really?
Narborough_fox Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 Egypt 9th!? Cameroon 40th!? England 7th!? Greece 12th!? Japan 32nd!? Load of bollocks if you ask me.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 14 July 2010 Posted 14 July 2010 I think they must have accidently put that eight in brackets and we are really 78th. Shouldnt be in the top ten though, maybe around 15th I'd say. Least we arent as bad as France!
Bryn Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 Makes sense to be honest, given how the rankings (which are undeniably a complete crock) work. Italy and France had to fall. I don't know why Portugal slipped below us though.
Guest Bilo Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 7th best team in the world is laughable, even considering the struggles of France and Italy at the World Cup that made our campaign look successful. Also, France better than Ghana? Israel and Gabon better than South Korea and Cameroon? Does anyone even respect these rankings any more?

Webbo Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 I thought I'd read that we'd dropped to 13th We were rated 13th out of the teams that competed in the WC. As for the rating they're not based on the last game you played. There are points carried over from the qualifying. Also during the world cup we drew 2 games won 1 and lost 1, the points are given on the basis of results not anyones perception of the quality of play.
Wycombe Fox Posted 15 July 2010 Posted 15 July 2010 ...what ever system their using is clearly out of date and needs reviewing. I bet Frank Duckworth and Tony Lewis could sort it out!

Qualifying matches shouldn't come into the equation unless the team don't qualify for the tournament and then the points shouldn't be worth as much as tournament points. Qualifying matches shouldn't come into the equation unless the team don't qualify for the tournament and then the points shouldn't be worth as much as tournament points. It's based on the past four years results, which explains why we've improved - we didn't qualify for Euro 2008 and then had a cracking qualification campaign. I believe it includes qualifying matches and tournament matches, but tournament matches have a bigger weighting. Also, the quality of the opposition has a bearing too, and the amount you beat a team by doesn't matter.
Jordan Posted 17 July 2010 Posted 17 July 2010 Oooh, 13th! EAT SHIT, SERBIA YOU TOO, FRANCE AND DON'T THINK I'VE FORGOTTEN ABOUT YOU, RUSSIA
