Jordan Posted 22 July 2010 Posted 22 July 2010 DeMerit is a fine defender at this level, but he's already showing some signs that he's on the decline. If we really do need another center back, perhaps a one-year deal would suffice (I don't think he'll get more than two, wherever he may go). I have a funny but dreadful feeling that Hobbs is going to get sold.

Jordan Posted 26 July 2010 Posted 26 July 2010 If I were DeMerit, I'd go back to the USA because there's not much he can do to make his story any better here. - He went undrafted by MLS after college and wasn't offered a tryout by any pro clubs, so - he got a Danish passport thanks to his grandfather, emptied his bank account of its remaining $1,800, took the next flight to England and wound up... - in the 9th level of the pyramid. He worked himself all the way up to the seventh tier in a few years - he was signed for Watford after impressing when playing against them in some meaningless friendly, and... - scored in their playoff final win. - Oh, and he so made it to the USA national team, playing out of his mind against Spain last year, and played all 4 USA games at the World Cup. DaMarcus Beasley swears DeMerit once served him drinks when the defender was working as a bartender when he was down and out.
