DeMerit as well as Orlandi.... Kermo gone?

Leicester City are set to make a move for two free agents, as former Swansea City midfielder Andrea Orlandi and ex Watford centre back Jay Demerit, could well be making a move to the Walkers Stadium in the next couple of days.

Orlandi is a name which has been tracked by Paulo Sousa for a good number of weeks, and it is believed that Leicester are set to sign the former Swansea midfielder on a free transfer. Orlandi who played under Sousa at the Championship side spent a season on loan to Barcelona in the season 2006-2007; however he only made one appearance. Orlandi is highly rated and he can play anywhere across the midfield, due to the fact that Sousa had the 25 year old at Swansea it is highly likely that they will join up again this time at Leicester.

Meanwhile former Watford centre back and United States international Jay Demerit is also looking for a new club; Demerit was released by Watford at the end of the 09/10 season. The 30 year old is rumoured to be interested in a move to the Walkers Stadium, and a deal could well be done by the beginning of next week. Paulo Sousa has already signed one centre back this season, that being a loan deal for Benfica youngster Miguel Vitor. Demerit spent six years at Vicarage Road making 182 appearances for the “Hornets”, the United States international took part in all of USA World Cup group game fixtures, including the match against England.

Also Leicester striker Yann Kermorgant is reported to have agreed a deal with a French side over a possible loan move, while the “Foxes” have missed out on the signature of Hugo Colace who decided to opt upon a new deal with Barnsley.

after re-reading it seems to have no substance, Demerit would be a strange one... did he leave Watford by choice?

Watford dont have the funds to keep him

Do we need De Merit, we have plenty of defenders. Or central defenders anyway.

Do we? Hobbs, Vitor, and Morrison who may have to play right back are our only fit, experienced CB's.

Would be suprised if that blog is true though. Kermorgant agreeing a loan to go back to France is likely to be bollocks seen as though he only played for us yesterday.

DeMerit would be decent on a free good back up to the Centre Backs and assuming either Morrison or Vitor plays at Right Back he would be a decent 3rd choice until we get Tunch back (if we do).

True. I can't see why he would get game time ahead of other players if he's about to be shipped out.

The fact that he played last night doesn't really mean a lot, what if any deal were to fall through and we didn't give him any time on the pitch in pre-season, he'd be still here and unfit.

Still seems unlikely that he would be taken to Slovenia (at the clubs expense) played in different positions over there for quite a bit of the games, took most of the free kicks in Slovenia etc for him to be arranging a move elsewhere.

I think this is wishful thinking by whoever wrote the piece and massively out of order. If true then fair enough but if this is just some sort of way to have a go at the guy (yet again), I think it's completely idiotic. This guy has come back to pre-season training and sounds like he's knuckling down. Personally i've never seen evidence of arrogance or laziness that some people seem to have picked up on but I have seen glimpses of talent and ability that could be quite useful to us should Sousa see fit.

It really is time to get over the penalty and get on with supporting the team.

A couple of my best friends are Watford fans and they were absolutely gutted they couldn't afford to keep DeMerit, rated as one of their best players for the last few years. I'd be pleased to get him, think it would then be between him and Vitor to battle it out to partner Hobbs - one a solid, experienced campaigner (and a first choice international in a decent team) and the other a young, up and coming starlet. Sounds good to me.

I would just like to know where they'd get all this from if it were completely fictious?

Surely there must be some truth in it (even if a little?)

AND AS FOR DEFENDERS?

I wish we could play Hobbs across the back, but that just isn't possible, so we need an experience head in there, i'm afraid (imho!)

he did a dam good job for watfird few years back in the premiership just a shame the rest of the defence was a shambles tbh. end of the day we need decent cover and decent cover coming in... whats the harm in having de merit who is decent come to leicester and fight for a position surely that will benefit the team more as all the CB will have to work harder for there spot.

orlandi carnt see no harm in taking if he is free...again more options for the manager and makes the mid-field lot work harder for there position

Kermorgant was mentioned here aswell on Foxes Online isn't Foxes Online and Foxes talk joined?

So I can see some truth in that, as I find foxes online very useful and correct, Orlandi looks a certain now as nearly every source has mentioned that he may sign including the likes of the Mercury, Sky Sports.

Demerit is a experienced defender got released by Watford because they couldn't afford to keep him along with some other players, fresh from the World Cup and could potentially help our back line with Brown gone and Tunch injured.

DeMerit would be a good back up, similar to the role Bruce played last year. Though I thought he and the rest of the USA defence were dodgy in the World Cup.

Hobbs vitor and morrison would be a relatively inexperienced defensive line up - and whether burner can last a full season again, it makes sense to bring in some experience at the back. For the experience, I would favor him starting ahead of Vitor.

We prob need a more experienced centre back. He seems decent for this level for free i wouldn't thought there is much better who have as much experience at this level and higher that would be in our budget.

He played the entire game when the USA defeated Spain in the Confederations Cup semi-final 2-0 on June 24, 2009

Done. Get him in.

I think this website is proof that there doesn't have to be any truth for things to appear on the internet.

Fan 1: "That USA defender DeMerit is available on a free"

Fan 2: "Really? We would have to be interested in him now Brown has gone. We need the cover."

Fan 1: "True!"

Fan 2: "Fan 1 Reckons we are interested in DeMerit"

Fan 3: "Really? He could be decent for a free."

Fan 3: "I heard we are in for DeMerit on a free"

Fan 4: "Really? interesting."

Fan 3: Yeah heard it from a mate, think he knows someone at the club"

Fan 4: "Heard from someone who has a source on the coaching staff that we are in for DeMerit. Reckon they have had him down the training ground to check it out? Got to be better than Watford".

Fan 5: "DeMerit has been at the training ground for talks? Cool."

Etc.
